Hey doobs, there's a machine shop in Mitcham called CWs or Top Torque (I think they trade under both names). That's where I got mine done and they seem to know their stuff. Little bit more exxy than other places but you get what you pay for .

Oh and piston-wise I'm using enduro-tech. I never actually heard of them before but the people who know them say that they're really good for what they are. Cheap too! Basically a good stocko replacement with a few extra features. Not as light as forgies but if you're on a budget..

    Just to reiterate:
I am aiming for 300 horsepower at the wheels or there abouts, just in case there was some confusion.
So it would see both doobs and I are looking in the same ballpark.

Also, whatthe: just making sure, you were still using stock injectors and AFM, with only a RRFPR and a walbro for your 330RWHP??

Nope, I was using 550cc sard injectors and a 1UZ AFM, although the primary reason for this is to raise boost cut above 11psi

Thanx haison I will certainly look into going there for the work...

I have the lex afm and 550s atm, still haven’t wound up the boost though, as my ebc don’t work, and I think that would kill the engine . But yeah the reason I got them was primarily for the fuel cut increase. I’m also running a safc...

boxh34d, are you going to stick with the stock ecu, or move to something else?

The head will be rebuilt also, and have any major casting marks cleaned up, as well as the ports matched to manifolds etc. Just the basics.
im told if you match port your exhaust ports to the gasket youll lose some bottom end power but only increase your top end marginally.if someone has done this and can verify it being worth the time it would be great.from what ive seen with toyota heads they tend to flow pretty good standard. all i personally would do is clean up the casting marks and polish the intake and exhaust ports.especially if your only chasing 300 odd hp.maybe look for a set of n/a cams.make sure all your coolant galleries are clear and not blocked up (i used a small chainsaw file and gently cleaned them(some of them were quite blocked)check for warpage and have the head decked to suit.

I have a few heads here, so they will be inspected closely, and then the best one will be the one to work with.
Don't worry, I can assure that the head will be dead flat, as will the block.
I was also under the impression that simply port matching the outside of the ports, where it meets the manifolds does very little to lower bottom end torque, as opposed to doing a full house porting job and opening the whole port right up.

I already have a set of N/A cams *( im yet to actually confirm this, but when I bought a pair of fully dressed heads, I was told that one was from a turbo, one NA. Is there any way of telling by markings, or is it a case of measuring them?? )
I am really wanting to know how much difference these make compared to turbo cams, if its really worth the effort of swapping them over. Anyone??

As for controlling the whole thing, I was thinking of going aftermarket, as I have a very good tuner ( actually a mechanic ) who deals with a lot of race bikes, and it might end up being easier in the long run. Not sure on how well lexus and 550's really cope with that level of power. Anyone??
The final decision will be made closer to the time of build me thinks.

I guess distrubed can answer that for us, I know he had the lex mod for a while there...

I'm gonna stick with it for now, and as you said, make my mind up when I'm close to finishing it...

Well i should slightly step into this I'm just building a mild 7M to shit stir 1j's.

Looking at similar power to what Matts old motor was making.

After now blowing 3 h/g 2 of the second gen ones. I've got the motor being built with new rings , bearings and a metal h/g.

Everytime I blew a h/g I got the head decked but never the block. So this time i'm going full house and getting the block done as well.

Also I will say that I've only been running 8.5 pound and ARP studs. still makes just on 180rwkw though.

Just a few thoughts I've been looking at mangment next so I can wind up some boost

As for the high Flowed Ct26 I have the same speck as what Matt had. Its awsome comes on quite early and is really driveable, however I haven't driven it any higher than the 8 pound

    Thanks for that.
What spec was that?? A T04 comp wheel?? Where from, price??
I haven't really chased up pricings etc on this yet, so I really don't have much of an idea.

garret cartridge, 60-1 wheel. i got mine done at GCG, Stitty got his done somewhere in Smithfield I think? Cant remember the name. Cost about the same though, including boring out compressor housing, new compressor wheel and reboring bush journals and fitting new bushes around about 1300 bucks

i wouldnt bother putting NA cams in ur 7m as the NA cams have a longer profile but less lift therefore giving you better low rpm power but less power up in the revs, so id say ud rather have the top end grunt so stick with the turbo cams get as much air in there as possible up in the revs, search around on supramania.com. the yanks have talked over and over on this topic

theres a lot of hot cars that use the n/a cams and considering the 7m isnt really a hard revving engine anyway im told theres only positives to useing them but im willing to listen and learn if you can point me to some dyno comparisons...

    Here you go

    http://www.supramania.com/forums/sho...=NA+cams+7MGTE

I was wrong the intake cam does have more lift a whole 0.01mm
and the exaust cams are identical

But noware near the proposed power benifits of 10hp that truck website proposed
