i agree though we put 300 HP though a 7 inch diff around a race track with either a detriot locker or very firm 2 way (depending on what track) withouth any issues

i will admit that i am not the gentlest person with my car but it is no where near 100hp at my wheels and my old 2tgeu neva killed a diff and it had more hp, the only thing the 3tgte has ova it is the steaper torque increase.

i am going to go to the wreckers tomorrow and see if i can find an rn2* diff housing. what parts will i need to get to have rear disks?? it will be easier to get it all at once thats all.

also is there a way to put disk brakes on my t series diff??, i still might look for a stronger centre for my diff.

    thanks again

I have another TA22 diff you can have for the right price

If you can find an RN2x hilux diff I can do the mounts on it for you.

For the TA diff you can make an offer.

For the hilux diff, you would have to find one first and then probably about $400 for me to chop the mounts off and fit the TA ones from an old diff that you supply.

Just remember that the hilux is 5 stud so you will need to wheels.

if your 3TGTE has less than 100hp at the wheels, then you have serious drivetrain issues. also it is torque that kills diffs, not HP.

Search the tech forums, the hilux diff conversion has been covered extensively, and that is where I got my info from.

ST141 corona avante disks fit T series diffs, also covered in these forums extensively.

Your front brakes lock up because they cannot apply enough stopping force before binding. They heat up too much too quick, and the pads just lock the disks. It is easier to lock up a wheel than to slow it properly, which is why locking up the brakes does bad things to your stopping distance (I proved that with my YZF600 and a week old camry, had plenty of room to stop, locked the brakes by grabbing too quick). It is well known that TA22 brakes are teh pooness, hell my RA40 with the RT133 corona sumitomo brakes will stop in about half the distance of a much lighter TA22.

I suggest go 5 stud all round, and use an RN2X diff. You will need larger diameter wheels to fit the brakes in too.

takes about an hour to swap out a centre when you have a bit of practice Be an easy temporary fix till you do it right. Oh, and unless you go with the Hoppers kit, you will need to make up your own front brake setup, as there are no bolt together options currently for the TA22.

    Yes and no.

the reason you don't want to skid is because the static coefficient (eg tyre not skidding) is much higher than the dynamic coefficient of friction (eg the tyres skidding over the tarmac.)

that's why ABS is soo good becaue it stops the wheels from skidding, and thus a higher amount of stopping force can be abblied to the car for a longer periods of time. Therein you stop quicker.

A Hilux is a great swap, but the last thing you need in a 100rwhp car is any more weight. I'm putting one in my car, but it'll be in excess of three times your power output.

Realistically you should never break a diff unless you've doubled the output of your car, or you drive like a caveman. Torque breaks diffs, and driving like a caveman momentarily exaggerates the torque seen by your driveline... even though the thing is still as slow as the billycart I had then I was 7 years old.

If you drive like a caveman, then taking it back a notch will make all the difference to the longevity of your driveline, all the while making bugger-all difference to how "fast" your 100rwhp car is.
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....

Does this apply to head gaskets as well?
