    Default noob question

I bought 2 neon for where your feet go (for both driver and passenger side). To hook these both up you have to get a double adapter for you cigarette lighter and then plug them into this. I would like to avoid this as it looks bloody ugly and sticks out like dogs balls. On the back of the packaging it says they can also hook up to 12volt plugs/wire... so my question is where could i hook them up to under the dash that would be 12volt? btw my car's a 75 TA22.

cheers guys, i feel like a dumbass asking this by the way.

    pretty easy to do this.

You obviously will be needing a switch and a fuse holder, with a fuse for either each or both lights together.

You'll need a wire from probably ACC(accessories power=when wire is tested it has 12v when key turned to ACC) fused at a rating of both light amperage.
Generally 15A will be fine depending on the lights.
Then to the switch through to the 12v+ve on the lights.
Then you need to find a good clean earthing bolt, get some crimp on connectors that can be bolted down and crimp/solder them on the 12-ve wires.

    Pretty easy.

Mmk, got a switch, will have to go down to the store 2day to get a fuse holder. (switch has the regular power, earth, acc outlets)

Just to make things clear it goes a little bit like this...?

Switch (wired to 12volt acc wire) ---> neons wired to the switch? ---> fuse holder wired to the 12v wire ----> the wire runs through to wherever it goes.....

    yep sounds right.

Find the ACC 12v wire, solder a wire onto it and tape->solder one side of fuse to the 12v+ve -> solder the two +ve wires of the light onto the other side of fuse-> then crimp both sides of the -ve of the lights and bolt it to a clean earth.

With the switch you have you can either wire it to a constant power source so that when the keys are out of the ign you can have the lights on, but that opens up to a place where the battery can go flat if left on, thats why i suggest wiring it to Accesories.

    God damb i hate wiring!

After about half an hour of swearing and kicking the ground , i've com back for some help. I bought the fuse holder and neons (found out they have inbuilt fuses, do i not need the fuseholder now?). My problem is wiring the neon wires (they have the positive and negative wires) to the 12volt acc wire (singular power cord).

Here's a pic of the switches and the wiring that came with the car when i bought it...

    The fuse holder:

What should i do? Do i wire up the fuse holder and put the positive wire from the neon on the power input and the negative on the power out?

The easiest place to find power controlled by the ACC position of the switch is the back of the cigarette lighter. There's normally a 2 pin connector joining the cig lighter into the dashboard loom just behind the lighter.

The "fuse" you've shown above is a relay. While I don't know the current draw of a neon, I suspect it's not huge, so the relay shouldn't be necessary.

I'd simply join into the +12V at the connector in the wiring to the lighter,
    then the fuse
    then the switch
then take a separate wire to each neon and bring both negative wires back to the same point for earthing (makes fault finding easier)

    Good Luck

Yeah the fuse holder you have is also a relay, however if they have fuses in them already the fuse holder isnt neccesary.

There is two wires on the light. One 12v positive and 12v negative(otherwise known as earth).

You need to find out which wire is which firstly. Hopefully in the instructions it say which one is which. If not you will need to plug it into the cigarette lighter, and put a test light or multimeter on the wires to find which is positive.

Then you connect both positive wires to ones side of the switch and the other side of the switch to the Accessories.

Then the remainding wires off the light get joined together and then bolted to earth.

Dont stress just think about it, and if your not sure come back and ask before you do it.

Heres a diagram for it without using the fuse holder.
