Hi,
But it doesn't go over 94deg, does it?

but if you read my original post, it originally cruise at 88-90degrees flat, and then its settled down to 92degrees flat, and now its on the move to 92-94....
If the trend keeps up, it'll be cruising even hotter. I'll really start stressing if it sits at 94degrees flat.

Hi,
Yes I saw that. I am trying to see if the temp just keeps rising - which it doesn't - except for the fact that over the past few months it has slowly risen from 88-90 up to the current temp of 94.
You can totally remove the thermostat and see what it does. It's not something that I'd advise for long term use, as the engine may not get up to temp (mine doesn't if it's removed) - but it will at least remove the thermostat from the equation.
The next thing is to remember what changes you did to the engine around late November? Anything at all? Did you change your tune, plugs, petrol... anything? I say petrol 'cos my AE71 almost overheats on the freeway doing 110kph with ULP, but runs cooler with PULP.
I assume the water is still clean and you are not losing any water at all?

at 2500rpm the water pump should be spinning plenty hard enough to pump a shizzle load of water around..
strange question, are there any waterways that have been blocked along the way.. like heater hoses or something strange? manifold- heaters that were blocked, not bypassed or something?
since November, then only thing changed in that time is the radiator and a power tune (cruise settings weren't touched).
And i've been driving around like that for at least 3 months now. With a steady 92degree cruise temperature.
Still only use BP Ultimate nearly exclusivley, i've used Sheel V-Power once in that time.
Water is still clean, not using any coolant.

you could try some water wetter in it.. maybe small steam pockets are building up? thats the only thing i can think of..
Hi,
Didn't the new turbo go in around November? Did the temp go up a tad after you installed the new turbo?Originally Posted by -==L=a=N=c=E==-

SL666: well i was talking to a mate who suggested rigging up a small header tank into the possible high spots.
River: yes it did go in around november, i thought that was mentioned already (if not)
Turbo went in, and the cruise temps didn't improve, and then was decided to install new radiator to make sure it didn't cook itself on the dyno. Cruise temps still didn't improve.
It survived the dyno, and has been happy at 92degrees ever since. Now it is creeping upto 94degrees.
I hope that clears it up.

the obvious thing i would think of is thats its a direct result of the weather. im sure the air would have higher ambient temps since we just went through the middle of summer a couple weeks ago. engine is running hotter, AC is working overtime....
maybe you could do a couple things to improve air flow through the radiators.
like ensure the rubber seal on the bonnet at the front and the one at the rear is sealing...
and maybe try putting the plastic underbody/sump shield back on. i usually throw them straight in the bin.
hello
but air temp doesn't appear to make any difference. If its during the middle of the nite (around 20odd degrees) to cruising down the freeway during the middle of the day.
No AC either. Intercooler doesn't block airflow.
See it wouldn't bother me if it stayed at 92degrees all day every day, but for the fact that its moved progressively from 88degree cruise upto almost 94 now has me worried.

can you compare your gauge temp with one of these pointed into the radiator water?
edit; its a gun that measures the heat of the object its pointed at

hello
I'm thinking about making a little header tank for my ute too.. a little swirl pot..
but i was thinking more about build up of possible bubbles in the head or something.. maybe they could be getting trapped under the thermostat? if they exist..
i hate to suggest it.. but maybe a hole in the thermostat might help.. but i don't think thats usually a good thing to do
I'd suggest some water wetter http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp see if that makes any difference.. it would stop bubbles attaching themselves to the castings.
