as Mr Toyota said, 80s Ronas, Hiluxes have them... although the hiluxes frequently seem to have the carbied version (?).

the RA65 celica (1982ish-1985) also has the 22r-e

Dont know, but im sure its better to be "out" with the points and "in" with electronic stuff...

Electronic ignition would be smoother, and more efficent id presume.

Twin point dizzy = points = hassle. It's fun (not) getting the dwell angle right with single points. With twins things would become even more complicated.

The advantage of electronic ignition is that it's basically fit, time and forget. No points to wear out.

Besides, I'm sure a DIY 22R electronic innards into an 18R dizzy is going to be a lot cheaper than that. Last time I bought an electronic dizzy and coil from Pick-A-Part it cost me $37.00. Although you will still have the standard advance curve.

So the advance curve would be suited to the 22RE??,

Can it be adjusted at a dizzy shop to recurve to suit the 18r?..any benifit doing this if its possible?

If you use the 22R electronic bits only in the 18R dizzy, your advance weights etc are unchanged. So no issue.

You can also use the internals and coil-igniter from a 21R which are in the RA 60 Celicas also.I'm about to do this conversion also to an 18RG.As to the mallory dizzy they are hard to get bits for plus it still uses points.
    Cheers Brett.

from memory its a black box, or possibly silver, sits ontop of the coil, mounted to the same bracket. Just grab them both, saves the hassle of pulling it apart.

PS. Hosking mate, you want "Electronic".... all ignition systems are electric lol
