    Default w50 bellhousings

    i was wondering would a w57/58 bellhousing bolt on the w50 box? also how strong is the w50 compared to say a w57/58?

    no sam. W40/50 bellhousing have a round hole in the back of them for the box, whereas the others have a kidney shaped hole, and i think some of the bolt holes don't line up either. no, a W50 isn't as strong as later W5#'s

    W50 bellhousing to suit 18R and 20R engines.

    No they are not that strong even though purists tell you about the horsepower they can handle.

    Hamilton wreckers fitted a SUPRA Type W55 BOX from a RT142 onto the bell-housing below, to replace the busted W50, totally different alloy gearbox so it will fit an 18R.

    I got the w50 box for junk and it has no bell hosuing so it must have fitted because I saw the gearbox go out the shop and into the hilux.

    all i wanted was comfirmation thanks for you input guys much appreceated
    i had a hair brain idea of useing a w50 behind the 2sg but failed

    i reckon it'll last awhile, you'd only be pushing say 160-180ish HP.

    i dunno if there's a bellhousing to fit though...
