    Default TA22 - 4A-xxx mounts

    Hi guys.

Just toying with some ideas at the moment.

Anyone have pictures of the engine mounts that they have used to fit a 4a-ge on a ta22 x-member?

    Cheers.

Cheers. What was modified, the x-member or the engine-side mounts? I'm just seeing how much work it is to sit a 4a in the bay.

    engine side mounts
mine use ford cortina engine rubbers/insulators
the passenger side uses an ae86 passenger side modified (shortened)
the drivers side is a modified 2T item.

Hi Thomas, I have recently made some engine brackets for a 4A-GE to fit a TA22.
Basically I bolted the rubber isolation mounts to the X member, and used a bevel guage to establish the correct angles, transferred the angles to cardboard, and hey presto, had templates for the mounts. Searched through the box of TA22, RA23, T18, and KE rolla mount brackets, found ones that were close. I then cut the engine side off, at the correct angle, and welded on a plate, which bolts the whole thing to the block.

    cheers Chuck.

Thanks for that Chuck. Unfortunately my tool kit doesn't have a bevel whatsit... and even if it did I probably wouldn't know how to use it properly. I have a couple of 2T mounts that can be butchered up, and can probably get more if I know which ones to get from nick-a-part.

Grega: Didn't you write up that tech article that was hosted on the old Toymods forum re: 4age => TA22?

    no mate not me thomas
chucks method FTW in my mind
my mounts work AOK - i like the idea of using the stock 2T mount with the stock insulator for originality. i think this is a better idea.
as the whole shebang is (again) coming out i'll take some photos if you can wait it will be a couple of weeks due to being on call for work.
otherwise i can try and take photos whether they will work i dunno....

Groovy. It looks like you simply cut and shut the ae86 mount to fit? This is really starting to inspire me

    Hi,
I used the standard 4AGE engine mounts with cut 'n' shut 2T crossmember mounts.

It is not the most elegant soultion, but it does the job. It also meant I could sit the engine lower than on the 2T crossmember mounts in their standard location.

The engine also sits on the factory 4AGE slant. The engine is a 4AGZE by the way.
