20V won't idle

A mate of mine has a 20V in a clubbie and he had the head off recently.
Put it all back together and was running fine.
Went to start it a few days later and now it won't idle, Will run fine if you give it a bit of foot to bring the revs up just doesn't want to idle for some reason

So the questions are
It may be that it has jumped a tooth on one of the cams and if so would this cause it to not idle properly?
Or would the likely cause be a dodgy connector somewhere in the loom?

Will be having a look at the car on Wed night but wanted to get some ideas/tips first.

My first thought was the cam timing was out but it did idle so who knows.

erm...

did u do a search? this has been covered lots of times..

ISCV idle control motor, throttle position sensor and vacuum lines to start with..

if it has skipped a tooth, u'd get sluggish performance when u rev it up, with some misfiring or rich mix or generally very funny running..

and if it's a sensor, chances are the car would run very rough than not idle..

Or a Vac hose has come off...

ive had this prob before in a clubman

check both hoses on the idle motor
one goes to msnifold other goes to intake pipe between air flow meter and intake plenum usually this one is at fault

Without that one that goes from the cam cover to the pipe between AFM and airbox, it will start, run for 2.5 sec and then die.
