Probably the MA46 Supra, some of which came with an F series diff and disc brakes. It will fit with minor mods (from memory two of the trailing arms have to be bent a little), but it's a moot point because you'll never find one.
some time ago I was speaking to someone about a diff swap for an ra23/ra40, he mentioned to me that one of the rwd celica's above the ra40 model the whole diff could be swaped over, apparently the diff bolts straight in, same mounts and everything and you've got a disk brake rear end! Anyone know if this is true and which diff he was talking about???

Your probably better off putting in a Hilux diff...
volvo ftw!...bigger stronger axles then the hilux,.....
Hi. Just use your t series diff with a AE86 LSD center you can get them new quite easy and your cown wheel will fit and it will bolt in. Then you can fit rt141 rear brakes they to just bolt on but you have to use a the corona retaining plates. i use this set up on my race car caus its cheap quick, easy and it is stong enough. If you dont have more than 300 bhp i dont think its worth mucking around with bigger diffs ie hilux etc

The RA40 (1410mm) diff is wider than the RA23 (1365mm) one
If you go with the Hilux diff your tail shaft will have to be shortened 30mm to fit and the diff will most likley be 1410mm long so it will have to be shortened to 1365mm to fit
Cheers

Precisely. If for example the vehicle in question has a stock 18R-C, a Hilux or Volvo diff conversion would be massive overkill and would make the car noticeably slower for no reason.Originally Posted by IN 05 NT

All you need to do is get a set of RT141-142 rear disc's and fit to your RA23 diff.
Here is a pic of an RA23 diff, with 142 disc's , & RA60 diff centre ( 3.9 ratio )
This is a plug & play ( only need to file the bush mounts to hold hand brake cable )
Project: '82, GA61 XX
Actually while we are on the topic of mating the right motor for the right diff. I've got a stock gen 3 1ggte in my 28 and i'm on my second center and it's noisy. I can't seem to decide on a diff. Only requirements are that it doesn't break (Street tyres, no drifting), cheaper the better, LSD, 4-stud (don't mind redrilling).
Here is what I have so far from the forums.
G
* unnecessary for strenght and a bit heavy
* 1370 version is hard to find so most likely needs shortening
* I think tailshaft needs shortening ?
* Needs disc conversion (nothing bolt on)
* Plenty of LSD centers available
F would be a good choice but
* needs shortening the housing
* and the tailshaft aswell
* Plenty of LSD centers
* Weight and strenght are good
* Bolt on discs
volvo also sounds good
* tailshaft only needs to be redrilled
* Still needs to shorten the housing
* cheap LSD centers harder to find
* Bolt on discs
* More than strong enough
* Don't know the weight of it
All need mounts changed so thats unimportant.
I guess the most important thing with the three is the total conversion costs (roughly) using all second hand parts and I'll do all the labour except probably the welding. And the only other things are if my points are accurate and the actual weights of these once shortened and with discs. Different posts seems to have some different points so just trying to clarify it all.
only things I need to know to make the decission are if there are any other costs for conversion (assuming all parts from wreckers are in good working order), the actual weights of the three
Hello.
What width is an RN25 Hilux diff? Anyone know?

thanks mate.
good luck on finding an rn25 diff, I had to buy a whole car just for one..
But hey, it'll be strong.
If you go for an F series diff from an early Corona MKII (MX13 I think) you don't have to shorten it. All you need do is swap spring platfiorms and trailing link brackets.
