Well if its a comunal time to finish the wiring weekend I'll get Scrotes Cressida to tow the Celica over so they can be done too. Josh will have to bring the wagon for me![]()

You are just taking up too much space, you will need to go away (nicely of course).Originally Posted by TheToyman75

Just so everyone's clear, March the 31st is the first day of the rest of my life after which I want to touch no more of anyone else's cars.
This weekend? Sure, bring the cars over to manly dam and if I'm not broken from riding onto and then falling off something stupid I'll help you push them into the dam (offer's open on every weekend until the cutoff date).

Well to be honest I guess its just too much of a dream for me at the moment, i asked more out of curiosity.Originally Posted by Mos
Well i'm guessing the parts depending on ecu/header/exhaust/gearbox/motoryeark's design would come up to 10k abouts and then the labour...oh the labour would be worse than delivering triplets (i'd assume)... maybe be looking at 5k that would be 2 weeks of full time work... which really isn't possible to work on car for 8 hours a day, unless its a way to escape all the annoying people in the world who are on your back!
But ofcourse on top of that engineering & anything else that would need to be upgraded on the car to make it a good package. thats my guessitmate.
I've had a change of heart of recent anyways, but its more career based rather than car based so my spending on my hobby has been significantly reduced in comparision to the grandplans of yesteryear i had![]()
I can't remember who i added this up for before, but from memory it came to about $10k in parts for the "cheap" option - ie auto, factory ecu, plus labour. If you're happy dodgying up the factory headers (which is possible) you could probably save 2-3k in headers.
For manual with aftermarket ECU you'd need to add another $5-6k....
Then you'd need to include labour which I'd say would be anywhere from $5k upwards. An average workshop rate would be around the $100 per hour mark, so your 5k is only 50 hours of work, which is more or less one week. That will depend on how well you'd want it done. As Linden said, it's not an overly difficult or challenging conversion, it's just fiddly.
I heard of quotes for a "cheap" (non-vvti, auto, factory ecu) turn key conversion in the low teens, but I'm not sure if they were special offers or a walk in price so would prefer not to divulge details.

Ah mos, you make it look easy but it is probably too much for a novice like me.
I think for myself i'll have to part with my IS in the short term before her kms get too high to get a reasonable price, hopefully some stage in the future I can buy her back and have a go at a conversion like this when I have some spare time + right now i need a car to drive everyday and the IS would just be too expensive of a project car.
Glad to see ya made it all work in the end. You're the only 1uz is i know about.
when is it getting the LSD and the VVTi hooked up + tuned? needs more grip and more grunt.
i love this thing like a fat kid loves cake.
