    Default Holden253 into Ta22

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has done it and how well it does, i am making up one of my ta22's into a fun car used for drifting, motokarnas and burnout comps.

I have found a 253 and all engine parts needed to run just wondering if it will fit in with ease?

    Cheers

    Hi,

Just because you found an engine, it doesn't necessarily mean it will be a good match for a donor car.

The 253 is heavy and will affect the weight distribution of a car as small and as light as a TA22. I don't know of anyone that's fitted a 253 into a TA22, but I know you can get housings to mate the 253 to various Toyota gearboxes.

meaning that it wont drift for crap...

ask this guy if he thinks it would drift: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Celica-Drag-R...mZ160037736371

I think V8's in light cars are only good for one thing.

I saw one of these at heathcote a very long time ago. Didnt get a chance to have a good chat with the owner. The car did however run consistent mid 12's.

I dont think it would be a good combo for handling purposes, but it definitely has the potential to move.

I dunno, a 1UZ with a Hilux rear end should balance out from the 2TG and T-series rear end. I think it would work.
Doesnt mean its sensible to do so though.

ok then the car is not for road use what so ever im just trying to get it to drift nicely without spending lots of money. i have until the 29th to get an engine and everything to make the car drift. i just thought that the 253 would have enough power to make the wheels smoke around the corners...

a 4age has enuf power for takumi lol, put enough suspension into any car coupled with a semi decent technique then it'll drift

The engine is probably one of the smaller costs in conversions I reckon most people here would agree. Its the rebuilds, go fast bits, custom bits.

That said it is already in a RWD format and there are heaps of toyota bellhousings. If mine didnt already have a 3sge in it, i would be looking at either the 302 or the 253, just for a rad bit of old school muscle.

So lead tipped arrow no good for drift? just understeers or something? i would have thought they would be alright and work like a pendulum. with all the weight on front wheels the back end would just pivot round the front

253 would make for a cheap easy conversion. only have to make mounts, bigger rad, maybe upgrade fuel system and prob coil aswell. be a few little other things aswell but wouldn't be too hard
