What are the thoughts on an RB25DET turbo on a AE101 ZE.
What sort of spool up has anybody found with these and what sort of RWKW could be found running around 13psi with front mount.
What dia 2.5 or 3" piping for intercooler recommended for this type of application?

    Cheers

I think 3 inch pipe would be overkill for a turbo of that size.
The rb turbo should boost at 2000-2500 rpm ( guess ) and make between 130-160 rwkw on 13psi. Depending on your head setup? cams/ ports etc ( im asuming std ) i would be leaning towards the 130 more.

Corky Bell says that you need to go bigger if the airspeed goes above (304MPH or 490kph) - so you could try calculating it.

    2.0" pipe : 585 cfm = 304 mph
    2.5" pipe : 913 cfm = 304 mph

estimate 2.3 cfm per crank HP

so 2" would be ok for 254hp
so 2.5" would be ok for 397hp

    Cheers, Nick

Thats cool info nick! + rep!!!

Interesting as i make close to 500hp ( if not more) and only use 2.5 inch pipe. Wonder how much of a gain there would be in switching to 3 inch?
Lots of work involved to do it though!! ( i/c tank change /new pipe work etc )

It makes me think though why does the GT3540 im using have a 2.5 inch outlet on the compressor? surely Garrett would know this info and have a 3 inch outlet on a turbo capable of 700hp?

For what its worth i can vouch for the inlet manifold valley leaking and needing to be welded.
