    Default 18RG timing issues

Having a huge problem with the timing on the supercharged RGEU.

Let me say firstly that i checked the timing mark on the ballancer with a dial indicator and its within 2 degrees.

All this is free reving as i have no where to drive except the driveway.

Setting it by ear as my timing light was broken i got it to stop backfiring through the carby and running strong.A little bit more and it would be hard to start.( compression lock) but go even better.

Problem is when i got new timing light i found that i had about 70 degrees static advance 80 total.
    Ran GREAT..

Started winding it back and about 40 is as low as i can go before it starts spitting back through carby on accelleration.
at 10 degrees it will idle nicely and if you are VERY gentle with the pedal it will free rev ok.

In theory it shouldnt run BUT.!!
    Any body got any ideas.

dizzi rotor is pointing at the wrong spot - there's no way the 18Rxx can run with 70-80 degrees of timing.

edit: suggest removing dizzi, set crank to ~10 BTDC, re-insert dizzi so rotor is pointing directly at the #1 outlet.

In that case I'd be having a close look at cam timing. Something is definitely amiss there.

I second this. Something else is horribly wrong in your motor!

Perhaps you have "dynamic cam timing" by way of your chain tensioners loosening up at RPM and advancing some cams... or something?
