    Default Turbo Mounting Positions, ???

    hey guys,

well i picked myself up a gt3071r ...and have to mod the manifold a little to get it to sit in the gap i have....without hitting anything as the motor rock's

its a low mount mani aswell,

i have to mount it up....so the intake if facing up probably a 30degree angle, and by doing that making the dump pipe rather esy to mould

are there any concerns with mounting it like that?

    cheers for more noob q's

    blake

    Nah it'll be fine.
The WRX rally cars I've seen have the turbo mounted at something like 80°. They do wear out a little faster, but the main reason for that is because of the anti-lag hammering the crap outa the turbo, not the oil return problem.

Yeah I read that in Racecar Magazine in one of the latest issues.

I see no reason why they cannot be tilted over as the oil lines are pressure fed. May make draining back to the sump a little slower when shut down so may have more oil carbonising onto the shafts if it has been run hard.
