    Default 3SGE + SC14 It begins

Well my SC14 arrived today, and its one big heavy sucker! Will put some pics up of it later. My plans at the moment are to fit it to my gen2 3sge which is in my ta23. I am already running a wolf3d which will be used to control it and probably an electric valve(blow off valve~ish thing to vent on gear changes) because I will be running the TB after the SC, Also might use this valve as a SC bypass for when its turned off.

    Jump on for the journey.

You should really move the TB before the SC.
Having the TB before the SC reduces SC load on the engine at idle and part throttle.
Itll also prevent the inlet tubing from being blown apart if your electric valve doesnt open or opens late for some reason.

Oh, and out of interest... how much did it cost you, and can you weigh it?

You don't need a electric valve, turbosmart do a spring for their BOVs to use them as a supercharger bypass valve.

See this thread for more info.

Yes thats the thread that got me started on the electric valve. The bonus I see with the valve is that I can use it as a bypass when it is open(plummed back of course) that way air doesnt have to pass through the SC.

I wouldent mind moving the TB, but that is just more work and I was looking at keeping the inlet setup pretty much the same as it is now.... the inlet tract is freeking huge. If I change the inlet one day, I reckon something silly like SC -> Valve -> Quads. Hehhe dreams are always good.

I will weigh it soon, house mate threw out our old scales and got these new fangled ones that I cant get to work. But the bloke who sold it to me said that it was around the 10Kg mark but I am thinking more like 15-20kg area. Cost me $350, the dude who sold it still has one for sale on the forums.

My valve does open at low load bypassing the supercharger nicely.

Hmmmm sounds good, does it flow enough air? I would assume a 3s would consume a little more air than a 4a. Now the only advantage I could see with the electric valve is the ability to close it a second or so before I engage the SC clutch so as to start it spinning a little to lessen the load on the clutch, or is not an issue at all.

EDIT: Might I ask what BOV you ended up running.

    Cheers

the sc14 is from the 1ggze 2L your thinkinf of the sc12 off the 4agze. so it should be quite nicely suited. wont go producing massive boost but will give it a nice poke in the tail.

are you leaving the Gen 2 unopened ? and what kind of boost ? and or power figures will you be looking for ?

Gen 2 will remain unopened until it goes pop, then I will probably spit on it, then rebuild with some strength in mind. Not looking for any power at the moment. Thinking of trying to run something in the range of <6 psi.

ahhh ok, should be pretty interesting when you have it running, will get some nice torque down low

Yeah, we'll see, fortunatly its my second car so I can have it off the road as much as I want, wonder if will make as much torque as my falcon.... heheeheh. Its already quicker, but lets see.

Yeah I havent been able to find them anywhere, what do you need them for?

    interesting idea.
Planning on running an intercooler at all? suppose you may not really need one with less than 6psi, and without the exhaust heat from turbos normally? Then again, whats the compression ratio on those 3sges?

Pretty sure the gen2 is 9.6:1 so 6psi is up there, I would want to run some sort of cooling, possibly water injection, because the inlet is already big enough and I dont want to cut anything way from the bar, cause in my mind big shiny IC's dont look nice on 1st gens.
