For instructions on "changing the pressure plate" check out the TSRM (Toyota Service and Repair Manual) in the link below.

    http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK2/

There is a massive amount of info in there including trouble shooting.

It seem the pressure plate is refered to as the clutch cover in this document by the way.

If this is happening then odds on it is the water-pump bearings that are shagged, and sometimes you will feel the vibrations, ther times not.

When the shaft finally snapped for me, I was on the highway at 110kph. I felt a thud through the pedals, heard a wierd crunching sound, and all the charge/warning lights went off in the dash.

I pulled over immediatgely and found the clutchfan/pulley/shaft snapped clean off the water pump jammed in the radiator.

    Not good.

As soon as the pump arrives fit it up-otherwise the same will happen to you on your way to work.................

The flywheel is a big heavy steel disc, there's really not much that can go wrong with it. Far more likely to be the pressure plate as indicated earlier. To inspect that you'll need to drop the gearbox, and by the sounds of things that's well beyond your mechanical abilities.

I think your best option here is to take it to a mechanic. Driving your car every day while it's like this is pretty stupid, you WILL break something major sooner or later.

Just taking a punt but could it be the Bellhousing cover in between the block and the bellhousing. It could loose where the block doesnt meet it??? Just a punt, haha.

    uhuh...

post a pic sometime in the first week of dec with the engine out of the bay for us...

in the meantime, you mentioned a week ago that the water pump is wholly cactus, and this vibration (bad) continues uninvestigated.

    i suggest fixing this ASAP

your conversion will take a LOT longer to get off the ground than you think. and youve already elluded to you needing this car as a daily driver...

    preventative maintenance my friend...

yea i realize that man, i dont make enough money to do a conversion properly. so im getting a family freind mechanic to fit the 5m-ge or 6m-ge. i know its half assed but im not cut out for it and i know no one would help me out after reading what i write. lmao. neways i still love my supra and hope i can cruise with you guys still on your club days or whateva. im in the qld supra club and .. yea hope u dont think of me as an absolut cock muncher. cause im not i just jump at a chance. thats why i get all excited and shit when an engine is for sale and i think i can afford it........ hope u understand. neways back to topic, if neone knows if it is harder or much different to fit a 6m instead of a 5m-ge id like to know, thanks.

5M-GE and 6M-GE are basically identical for the purposes of an engine conversion. Only the internals differ.

hey u know the 3 litre soarers, old skool boxy soarers. what engine did they have? the 7m-ge or the 6m-ge? cause i might (MIGHT) be getting one ralii cheap at an auction. im tlking dirty sanchez cheap. like 50 buks, its an old peice got smashed windows and stuff but if anyone wants saorer parts it might b cumming into stock soon. like lights and dash and seats and stuff. if i get it. if not there is a cressida there for sale aswell. an mx83 i suspect cause it says in the lot description "gold" and i havnt seen any gold mx73's onli mx83's. im open to corrections if anyone knows of a stock gold mx73.
