First experience was a microtech LTX12 on my old baby... did the install with some help from paul (supragte) in a few hours, it was cheap, once I took it to a real tuner it ran very nicely.
Next one will be either an SM4 or M800, purely because of the annoying technology that comes with newer cars.

And it's refreshing to see that Toymods and Australian based forums in general are much better than their US counterparts![]()

a bit OT here..but the person that remaps my Laurel race car (Jeff from The Speed Lab) belives they are very close to releasing daughter boards for a few toyota ECU's including the JZ, 4A and 3S series of motor...sadly there isnt much info to back it up but if these are released there is a whole new board game for toyota owners who are looking for some kind of tunability...really the nissan guys have it so easy as I have experienced...Originally Posted by Joshstix
a remap is just as good as a power FC in my opinion...minus data logging and hand controller capabilities...but if you fork out for the dongle that some guy in voctoria makes you can do it all with your laptop anyway
sorry for going ot nath

what are the boys saying on Saliva city?
You could list this on MR2OC but all of the responses would be for Nemesis, AEM, PowerFC and remapped stock.
Tektom have had daughter board tuning available for the 3S for at least the last 10 years but nobody in Australia has been using it. ATS in the US do mail order retunes using the Tektom gear for the 3S.
I bought an Adaptronic for my 4agze.
I was originally going to use a MT, but when I tagged along with a friend to MRC they showed us the tuning software for the Adaptronic. We were both impresed. Plus the number of features and extra outputs without having to pay extra, I was hooked.
And when it costs about the same as a base model MicroTech I didn't really need to make a choice.
Getting there, only so much I can do at work, cos it's sorta on the side.

I'm looking for a fairly broad representation, so I suppose that will work too! I don't expect the forums to be hugely similar in their responses, so i'm trying to get a fairly broad range.Originally Posted by Joshstix

I'm running a Microtech LTX-8 on my 4agte in my Spoontah, haven't taken it out on the track yet, but the improvement over the stock ECU is already about 1000% better from what I can feel tootling around the street. The motor actually feels like it has power now, revs cleanly, the idle is improved aswell, I'm still not 100% happy with the tune that's in there atm, so I'll be going to a different tuner for a quick touch up before I take the car out on the track though.
I suppose that was one reason for buying a Microtech, as so many tuners in NSW are capable of playing with them and getting the best out of them. Price was also a consideration, I got the Microtech for a fairly good price about 2 and 1/2 years ago, I think it was just over 1k with coils, the bad part was I had to wait 2 weeks for the distributor to get one in for me.
Brand reputation would also be another factor, and also after-purchase support, which I personally haven't had to use, but a mate with a rotary drag car with a Microtech has used their tech support twice for a couple of small problems and it was sorted pretty quickly and he was happy. I suppose a tuner/installer worth their salt can whack in a Microtech almost with their eyes closed, which is a positive, a fairly compact size of the unit is good aswell.
Cheers, Daniel.![]()
