    Default 2JZ-GTE VVT-i FULLY OPERATIONAL

Hi guys, attached is a dyno graph from my 2JZ-GTE VVT-i Soarer with VVT-i disabeled and with it tuned.

Gains were had in power and boost response and really fatted up the mid range. Boost is 14psi.

    ECU is Haltech E11 v2.

It's not really fully operational if vvti is disabled now is it?

The engine came without an ECU so i had no way of testing it.

With the oil control valve disconected the intel cam was in its default position.

As you can see, theres 2 lines there for power. The lower represents vvti disabled, the high represents fully operational vvti. Clearer now?

The way i read it, the 2nd run was with vvti disabled, but now in a tuned state.

all VVTi does is fatten the torque curve.

Peak power was the same. The more the inlet cam was advanced (30degrees max) the more top end it lost.

The on road feel is fairly solid. It just keeps you pinned to the seat and keeps on pulling. Kind of like a boosted XR6 turbo.

only better, right? I'll lay money on it being more economical, reliable, smoother, quieter etc.
Is Toyota still making the 2JZGTE? Im afraid I havent taken any notice of its current status.

Nope, AFAIK it died along with the Aristo recently. The new generation cars (eg Mark X) are using the GR series V6 engines.

    Stock as a rock.

The plan was to boost them a bit but i don't really see any point. The last thing i want to do iis creat excess back pressure and start thrashing the intake air.

I'm taking it to WSID this Friday night. The goal is a high 12.
