    rear mounted for wheelstand mobile?

    here http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/s...s_3Feb2006.pdf
they say 1970 corolla = 746... but the old code of practice for NSW had a listing specifically for KE10 and KE20...

in NSW they used the heaviest sedan with no options...or did.. and same is planned for NCOP

3x weight... so it's still a little big or 2.5x turbo (same for NSW now and NCOP)
hmm.. sleeve/destroke to 2.2L, give it a decent balance and a decent set of cams

Yup looking like a BEAMs FTW.

My days of opening engines and playing for the fun of it are long gone. The OEM factory engineering is just too good and lightyears ahead of what 99% of machine shops can produce so as they say "if it ain't broke don't try and fix it". So, no sleved and destroked 2MZ i'm afraid

BEAMs looks good on paper but may be too tall? 1ZZ or 2ZZ have some appeal, especialy with some FI.

Not quite 'out there' enough for me but looks like i'm gonna be a tad constrained on this build.

    Default 1MZ tricky bizzo

Not sure if you're aware Justen but there's nowhere easy to mount the starter motor in standard form on the 1MZ (I presume you're wanting to convert it for RWD). There is however a nice bit of webbing in the block that looks plum ripe to be machined away to make room.

No doubt you can make it happen.

    Hi,

Car weights are usually set by the appropriate Road/Traffic authority and it doesn't necessarily correlate with the manufacturers specified weight. They'll look up KE10 and say it weighs x-kilos and that's what they will go by. I don't think that by adding extra weight to make it up to the weight you desire will work.

compare the height of engine bay with the AE86, and then check Bills pictures of fitting the Beams in.

as for 2ZZ, the SC path has already been paved with the Lotus Elise....
and RWDness has been done for clubmans..

    mmm 2ZZ.....

I'm guessing it don't look too good in the AE86 then?

Not really across the ZZ range, care to educate me?
