Don't listen to sean (MS-75) because he doesn't know shit from clay when it comes to 5M engines. That's why he had to go to a 1FZ - the 5M was just too complex for him. It's not like he ever built a stupidly well constructed 5m that had ALL the aftermarket goodies, pulled 280 rwkw screaming like a bitch and still couldn't keep a head on the block.

It had a hole in it because the extractors were to close to it. Tell me how sucking in a shitload of hot air is gonna make it run better? Especially since it smelt rich as all hell and blew black smoke when I took off hard.

What he is saying that 5M-E's run ungodly rich from factory, taking fuel out (via an air leak post AFM) is a great way to get some power (and AFR's that are realistic ).

Heated throttle body and intake...how is that going to help with power? (that is what toyota did from the factory )

Im going to jump on the 7m band waggon on this.
7mge is the cheap answer to power, quite a bit cheaper than a 2jzge too.
No bellhousing, engine mounts or front sump to buy which will double the cost of the engine, trust me I know

The other data only shows the torque curve (or line ). He asked me if I wanted a printout with AFR or torque and I said torque. Next dyno I'll ask for multiple readouts with different things.

Back on the 7M now are we enchanter? You forgot to add the cost of a potential rebuild and proper headgasketing to the equation

Seriously, if you secretly yearn for a V8 as per signature, I would just get one. There are two on ebay right now - one has an ECU - for only a tad more than you hope to achieve this 5MTE farce for!

A set of engine mounts from Cruzsida, a bellhousing, a flywheel, half a tank of petrol and you're away.

Ive always been pro 7mge for a cheap conversion, Im still going 2jzge but Ive always known its not cheap to do.
You can pick up a 7mge very cheap and then rebuilt it, it will come out no more than a 2jzge engine that you know nothing about.

edit: you should be able to pick up a 7mge that wont need a rebuild perhaps just do the HG.
