What years did they build the 1JZGTE from, most importantly what were the newest ones out of?

wasn't it '89? I'm sure i've seen JZA70's with an '89 build date. Not convo's either.
meant to say mid 1990,
when they added the dark green colour also.

Ahhhhh, thanks for the info dudes.
There are 2 gen's of the 1JZGTE.
The 2nd gen has a revised PCV? I think.
Turbo's are less prone to blowing I think.
Don't have a 1JZ so didn't memorise it, but I remember reading it on some Mk3 site.

1jz-gte started in 1990.
The "gen 2" cruz speaks of isn't really worthy of the title.. the location of a valve was changed, and valve made 1-way... that is all. Rumour has it this makes them be able to handle up to 16-17psi reliably.
The vvt-i came about in mid-late 97 from what I can tell.
a well as the single turbo and vvti it also got some extra compression

moreso a clarification![]()
Sorry, so this 'update' is in the 90-97 twin turbo non vvti? Not part of the big change to single/vvti?
Any idea when this change to 'gen 1.2' occured?
Just to answer Requiem, I wouldn't take to heart the so-called 1989 imports. Before the law change there were quite a few dodgy "1989" models comming in. I once saw a 1990 JZA70 with rego papers saying it was a 1986!
The PVC valve change that that Draven is talking about was only in reference to the twin turbo non vvti 1jz. There is a website (which I don’t have handy atm) stating when the PCV valve ‘change’ happenedOriginally Posted by -GT-

Also is it just me or did JZZ30's vs JZA70's have the different PVC valve / turbo piping arrangement at the same time, I swear I have seen a same year JZZ30 and a same year JZA70 with differing configs? (That note is from my memory and maybe wrong? would someone like to clarify / correct me?). I'm suspect on the PVC effecting anything at all to be honest, it is a one way valve…
