The DB1170s wont fit the staggered piston calipers.

Yes, it is the "different sized" piston caliper one that takes the RX7 Pad.

    A question for the learned.

The first page of the thread shows an image of the 2 different Hilux/Landcruiser brake callipers. The one on the left has fins whereas the one on the right doesn't.

Which calliper is the one that takes the 200SX, R32 or R33 callipers and which is the one that takes the series 4 RX7 calliper?

Apologies if this has been covered already in this thread.

    Thanks,

This is what i was trying to find about before, by posting up what caliper i had... The left "two same size pistons" takes the r33/200sx/r32 gtr pads Bendix part # db1170 and the right caliper with "different size pistons takes the rx7 series 4 pad.

I don't know if this is worth changing, but this quote from the wonderful first post is a bit confusing.

"However, the LN106 only came out with the one caliper, wheras the Hilux of the same era came out with both. Some wreckers will try and sell you the Hilux caliper as the Landcruiser It is not a particularly big showstopper, as both will work fine. The Landcruiser caliper takes the 200SX/R33/R32 pad, wheras the Hilux caliper will take an RX7 Series4 pad."

It mentions the LN106 and the Hilux of the same era. Well a LN106 is a Hilux, so I'm not sure if that is meant to say Landcruiser instead of Hilux, or Landcruiser instead of LN106?

Also it says the Landcruiser takes the nissan pads. My caliper from an FJ60 Landcruiser front is the twin sized piston type which definately takes the Mazda pads. This section may be worth cleaning up based on some of the confusion in the last few posts. Perhaps rather than reference Landcruiser/Hilux calipers it should be rewritten using the number stamped on the caliper and mention what vehicles they might be found on?

Just a thought, awesome writeup though it has been most helpful!

i have heard of issues with the control arm hitting on the rotor.

    now my setup includes

    60mm cut tube, 10mm spacer for hts102
    pug rotor
    gh sigma arms
    xt130 struts
    40mm rca

im still waiting on parts so am yet to see if it fouls, but
are there any problems regarding 86 power steering arms,

if so are there any problems with swapping them side to side other than
the positive camber, which would mean very little to me as i could get it back
    with the camber tops.

    thanks

Ive read and its been confirmed that using RA22 or XT130 steering arms fixes the fouling. But makes steering a bit slower. I see you are on AE86DC like me trying to find everything out lol. Would be good to find out about using the AE86 power steering arms on oppisite sides as i have a pair sitting in the shed.

it wouldn't suprise me charwie, apparently hilux brakes are a boltup upgrade for 260z's and such as well. sumitomo are just a brake supplier to the manufacturers, they actually make the skyline and silvia brakes, except for most gt-r's which have brembos

Yes this would be accurate - the Sumitomo caliper is likely to be similar to Z cars. I found I could buy all manner of pads off the shelf for this caliper, as it takes a pad the same shape as Datsun Z cars (common upgrade for rallying people with 1600's / 180b's etc) and also Mk 2 Escorts.

So there are heaps of different pad options for the Sumitomo caliper
