Question for those of you with T3 upper coilover spring hats, there's a fine needle roller bearing in the top of them, whats the best stuff to lube it up with? I thought maybe grease would be too thick or is this ok? Other idea I had was using oil, maybe a higher viscosity than you use in your engine? Hopefully I will have the coilovers and brakes in by the end of this weekend Cheers.

I have just fitted a set of T3 strut tops, I used some High Temperature Wheel Bearing Grease. Not much heat up there, but quite a bit of load.

    cheers Chuck.

Great thread guys. I already have an IDB upgrade from a few years back. It has the DBA272 discs and only 2 spot calipers, I think from a Corona.

Question is, will the 4 spot Hilux calipers bolt up to my existing caliper brackets? Its been so long I can't remember if the IDB kit included the sturts or if I kept the stock ones.....

Or I guess I'm asking if the Hilux calipers bolt up to the stock TA22 bracket?

    Cheers,
    Simon

    hi Simon,
i'm pretty sure they don't - not positive about the 22 but definite for 23/28. the bolt spacing for the hilux is much less than the backing plate - hence the XT130 struts are reqd.

Simon, if you want to go hilux calipers you'll need the corona struts to mount them, as I dont think they line up, and the corona struts have a much beefier mount which is helpful since the hilux calipers are pretty heavy. My suggestion would be if you want coilovers use corona struts and build them up outside the car, then do a last minute swap. I know your car isnt a daily but keeps it moveable - its taken me almost a year to get these struts in my car so they can take time.....

Yeah, I know. It takes me ages to do anything to my car these days....

I already have the twin spot Corona calipers, so I'm guessing I must already have XT130 struts? I got the kit so long ago I can't remember if the struts came with the IDB kit...

Take some pics and post them up. Easiest way to tell is compare against the photos in my rides thread, where the caliper bolts up. Ta22 calipers bolt to the dust plate, not a bracket on the strut.

    Simon,
The twin spot Corona calipers are a complete swap with the Hilux 4 pot calipers. The caliper bolt hole spacing will be 90mm, centre to centre, so yes, Hilux calipers will fit your struts. You may need to space them out with 1mm washers to centre them over the rotor.
    Cheers,
    Mitch.

This may have been answered, but does anyone know what disc cover will fit on this set up?
Reason is I find that without a cover the water cools the discs etc down to the point that the rear locks up on me first if I'm driving in the wet.
I've already have a couple of close calls and really want to find a disc cover to fit....

    Cheers,
    Simon

I found that these few two raised sections in the standard Corona backing plate that rubbed on the rotor after I cut the caliper space wider. Some gentle bashing with a hammer fixed that up nicely.
