Thats the whole idea... cut the tube down to give increased shock travel at lowered suspension heights.
yeah i understand that...but what im asking is that there is only 40mm difference between my strut tube and my insert when other peoples difference is 70mm.

Ok, just to follow up on the supra brake master cylinder issue I was having. The previous owner bought the MC off a guy who said it was off a JZA70 - I read somewhere they were the same as the GA and MA but I guess not Maybe someone that has access to a JZA70 can have a look in the engine bay and confirm?

Just thought I would post this up, as the JZA70 one will work fine, but you would need to do some more significant mods to one of the brakelines, whereas the GA70/MA70 MCs only require you slightly bend one line by hand.

    This is the JZA70 MC:

    Out of the car:

The GA70 MC I replaced it with (forgot to get a shot after I installed it in the car):

    cheers Chuck.
I have a ta22 and will be using ra60 struts, discs and calipers with my ta22 kyb inserts, coil over sleeves, hats, springs and a camber adjustment strut top. I am half way through and basically went this way because you get a larger vented disc straight up and bigger pads.(still single piston caliper though). If this still proves insufficient I will upgrade to a twin piston caliper. This crazy offset mount of the steering arms will indeed be a small problem. I am going to get the struts bent so they are identical camber to the ta22 strut at zero. I know this sounds dodgy, but apparently it is common practice - It will only be a few degrees too. Hopefully I wont encounter any issues.

Could I ask if anyone knows the exact clearance differences between the landcruiser caliper with the fins, and the hilux caliper?

Ryan, measured my hilux calliper (two pistons different sizes) as promised in the classic celica dedicated thread.

Outside of calliper (which faces outwards on the vehicle) to face where bolts to strut = 90mm. Hopefully that helps.

Just wondering what offset rims you people are using on the XT130 hubs vs RT132 hubs?

I havent got my hubs yet (didnt come with my struts), so im open to either (pending on what I can find at wreckers).

Did some quick measurements on my other set of rims which are going back on 51LII soon, but wanted to make sure they were ok to use when I eventually get the new struts in, as Im about to buy some new rubber for them... no point buying rubber if I find out I cant use them though...

Well I think they are +10 offset, and are 14" rims - im a n00b on this and basing that on linksI have found in another thread on how to measure them up.

So have people used +10 offset/14" on this setup successfully? If not, what rims should I be looking for?

I can provide measurements on the 75series landcruzier calipers if you want as I scored a set for free down in Tassie.

I'm in the process of converting to the Hilux brakes.
I'm not going to put coilovers in (seems a little expensive at this point). I would like to keep the stock ride height of my TA22, just with stiffer springs.
Does anyone know what springs / shocks I should get to keep this? I'm not too fussed about the brand or anything, anything would be better then whats up there at the moment

Koni's are a good shock with some king springs i've had no problem with that in the past.

Yeah I've been told by a guy at work that that is a good combo. I'm just wondering if someone can tell me the the exact spring that will allow me to keep my ride height (or fairly close to) but be a little stiffer.

You might have to get one custom made.
The majority of aftermarket springs drop the ride hight a decent amount.
Dont be scared off by the "custom" word though, they are not that expensive.

BTW... this discussion does not belong in this thread, create a new one if you want to discuss this further.

What brand do you want? I bought KYB AGXs part number 765016... found that part number by looking up the catalogue on their website... you will want MR2 SW20 REAR inserts. I also found the dimension sheet for all the KYB part numbers and cross referenced my measurements with the insert to make sure it was what I wanted (but now I cant remember where I found it )
