dont know about the jz engines but the 4ag is certainly like this and id be suprised (very suprised) if the jz didnt have this..
whip the cam covers off and generally in the middle of the cam is a nice hexagonal block desgined specifically for you to grab with a (25mm on the 4ag iirc) spanner so you can immobislie the cam whilst undoing the bolt retaining the timing belt sprocket on.
edit: and obvisouly so you can retorque it when putting it back togteher.

this is a 4ag camshaft between cyl 2/3 you can grab this with a spanner to immobilise the camshaft. infact the bgb even tells you this is the right way to do it.
yeah i thought there might be something like that on the cam, but i didn't have the cam covers off to see.
the 18rg definately has these as well to align and grip the cam.
