Not really buying the "preload" story since it isn't consistent with the inner workings of a torsen diff ; you may have spoken to a sales rep more than a tech Then again, I may be missing something about the truetrac too - it might be more than a 'simple' torsen.

The bottom line is the same: get the 588 I've actually tried contacting DTS myself to buy one, but they haven't gotten back to me on shipping yet. Not after I gave them my address that is

If I were anywhere on your continent I'd have joined your GB, but...

Just give them a call and talk to Rich, that's the guy i've been dealing with.

Once the diff is fitted and the 18RGTE is running, i will have pics of skids.

Has anyone changed over the brakes on these? I'm looking at the volvo diff as an option for my KE30 - but I need a 4 stud, and its got 5 stud...so the brake housing might be a problem.

You dont change the brakes, just get em re-drilled

I had them changed to 4x114.3 on my first set of axles, and now have em changed to 114.3x5..

    Too easy.

yeah im getting mine re-drilled and re-studded for 4*114.3 stud pattern to suit the KE70. Been quoted $130/axle to get it done, and around $400-450 for the mounts to be welded

Just weighed my second volvo diff, complete with disc brakes, internal handbrake and everything, Volvo brackets and bushes still on.

    Weighs exactly 75kg.

That puts it right in the middle between stock T-series and a Hilux diff, both still with the drums on.

Re-drilled...hhhmmm The Volvo brake disc i've been looking at has multiple stud holes in it (not just the 5) and it would be pretty hard to drill another 2 holes inbetween to make a matching 4 stud.

When you say re-drilled, is your disc brake different or do you get the holes welded/tapped & filled then drilled out??

For the disc you drill 2 new holes, slot one hole and then let the last stud use one of the existing holes. Its all hub centric as well.

Anyone know if there are engineering 'issues' with this in vic?

EDIT: The Volvo diff I've been looking at is ~1370mm wide, and has a 27spline axle, with disc brakes (drum handbrake mechanism). Maybe its an earlier series?

Probably a 1030 then, smaller ring gear than 1031.

wed - do you know what volvo models ran these?? I know the one im looking at is still LSD, and the axles are big enough for my app...just running in to 4 to 5 stud issues on the brake hub - as it can't be drilled to 4.
