airfireman, if your going to do much spirited driving in mountainous areas, or take it down to a race track to test it out, you may suffer fuel starvation... or you could make sure you have plenty of fuel when you do that stuff.

No problems, not many mountains in WA, as long as the tank is at least half full i dont think I will have a great problem as this is only a cruiser.
cheers
Sounds like you got it easy then... let us know what you find out.

Does any one have more info on the VDO swirl pot pumps?
I can only find very very basic info
I have my fuel tank out ATM (needs repair) considering putting some sort of swirl pot in
So if you have your fuel setup in the boot of your 22 then what are the solutions to getting it engineered and safe?
- Alloy plate to seal boot and cabin (like mentioned above)
- Mount stuff under the car
- Box it all up and have it vented
- Custom tank

pretty much LeeRoy... thats partially why I decided on a custom droptank. That and I would like to put a pair of Cerwin Vega 10" subs and a battery where the existing fuel tank is, so I can have my stereo and use my boot too.

im not 100% sure if a firewall makes it leagal it should be you never know with some engineers
So what impact does that have on seting up a battery in the boot? But then again i spose if you are using a gel battery you dont even need a battery box as opposed to an acid battery? correct?
Ps wont let me rep u Owen

Do you think there will be enough room for a spare? Or just go without...Originally Posted by o_man_ra23
Plenty of room Major Clod, you forget that theres still a spare wheel well. I will be using a space saver though, so I will probably modify the spare wheel well accordingly, and bring the droptank up higher.
LeeRoy, 2 options for the battery in the boot, box or gel. Because you dont have flammable substances in there, theres no problems with sparking. Mine will be sectioned off and look like its just an extension on the sub box... gotta keep things pretty

yeah a fully sealed battery is the way to go,
no box needed also generaly smaller and lighter,
only down fall is for big CCA you pay out the ass
Well i was planning on buying an Oddysey battery or similar anyways so thats not much of an issue.
On another note if the big concern is petrol leaking, fumes in cabin and whatnot is it generally a "it must be sealed" sorta situation with the engineers or can you still have it all in the boot if your using braided lines and speedflow fittings?

..... all you guys should be asking your engineers about this kinda stuff.Originally Posted by LeeRoy
These kinds of things will depend on the engineer and what mood he is in.
Not worth the risk of setting it all up only to find that no one will sign off on it.

Ill be putting forward all my plans and designs to my engineer before I get started building.
LeeRoy, Ive heard some bad things about Oddysey batteries, like they fail prematurely and the after sales service is shit... so you might wanna research that further, see how many people have used them and what their experiences have been like... $800 is a big outlay on a battery, gotta make sure its what they crack it up to be. I seem to remember a discussion about it in the classic celica dedicated thread... or another similar area.
