RB20E/ RB20(D)ET question

Hello guys,

I own a 1994 GTS Skyline with a RB20E motor.
I want to turbocharge the engine "low budget" style and low boost.

Will a factory turbo manifold from a RB20ET or RB20DET or RB25DET fit on the RB20E cylinder head?

Quick answer: if your car is the single cam version then, no it wont. If its the twin cam version then it will physically fit but you will have so many deficiences in other places that may need upgrading if you want it to be legal (will need to check with an engineer): brakes, fuel system. And if your car is the single cam version, then it will be much harder to upgrade your brakes.

If you want to turbo your car then buy the turbo version, it will help you in the long run. If you dont car about being legal, then get NOS.

Most likely donor for exhaust manifold and turbo for a RB20E would be the RB30E as in VL commodore

If it was me I'd be investigating the price of a complete RB20DET engine package. I don't know what the prices are like in your part of the world, but this might be the cheapest way to get a turbocharged engine in your car. Even if you can find a manifold to suit your SOHC cylinder head (does an RB20ET even exist?) you have to do a lot more to make it all work properly and not blow up within a week. With an engine already designed to be turbocharged (eg RB20DET) it's ready to go, just bolt it in and wire it up and off you go.

Oh and like they said, this isn't the best place to be asking questions about Nissans. This is Toymods, ie Toyota Modifications!

NO probs, yeah theres a few RB20ET's around in various odd Nissan models, R31 passages had them but IMO you want a RB20DET silvertop atleast.

What about an SR20DET conversion bit harder but still fairly common and reduces weight better handling attributes and easy to source a later model engine that will hopefully be in better condition.

The thing is, I don't want to spend too much $ on this car, I'm just looking for a "push" in the low-to-mid range, (low boost).

An SR20DET swap sounds killer, but not for my daily driver
