Just the measurements at the port opening. I heard a rumour that the port was a dramatically different shape to accomodate the injector, but I wanna know if this is just a rumour.

Sweet. If it becomes a problem, I'll just make a new releif on my 210 head... I'm designing and building my quads and testing them on my current motor before going to the effort of tracking down 88270 bits and building the bombproof motor.

    Cheers

if u have a special alloy grinding bit, its only about 8mm high and 13mm wide, but MANY ppl run the carby head and its never a problem, cant hurt to grind one in there tho

I can't help but think it will help with better atomisation, especially at cold start when fuel tends to condense on the port walls. I wonder how much of this pocket would be left after serious port work? When you had your head ported, was it mainly changing the shape and angle of the port, or was a lot of material removed?

I reckon this is the direction I'll take... I can't be stuffed swapping a head I don't have onto an engine I won't be keeping... Bank balance says no way man!!

tricky, if you are seriously interested in doing a half descent job of this. I can send out a cross section of the head for you to borow and then you can make your own assesement.

    PM me.

Should be helpfull for anyone wanting to do some serious porting work to their 88270 heads.
I have heard that there are different amounts of material in the ports on the various 18rg head castings, so it may only be accuarate to assume this will only apply to 88270.

You may have seen these posted up around the place but hopefully this makes it a bit easier to find.

More pictures and measurements can be provided on request.

I will soon hopefully be flow testing all my standard 18rg heads, 88210, 88250 and an 88270. I will post up flow figures for everyones information.

They never got tested because i canned the idea of using an 18rg as my engine of choice. I am currently selling all left over 18rg bits and peices, which consists of 2 fully reco cylinder heads, one with brand new valves and valve springs.

I guess they are talking about that circular shape on top of each intake hole:
