    G'Day mate,

The manual says to use NGK BPR6EA or BPR6EY with a spark plug gap of 0.7mm-0.8mm. I've attached the scan of the manual for your reference

Your engine looks damn nice too btw.

    Rudi

(The specs above are for the normal points ignition system, with the reluctor ignition you can open up the gaps, like joecoolmk2 post above)

Ok, since a few people seem interested, ill put together some info on how to go about the Delco ECU conversion, and go through some of the problems i encountered.

Here's a really quick overview of what i can remember off the top of my head...

    1. I guess the biggest negative of using this system (if you call it a negative) is you cannot use any of the original Toyota sensors. All sensors need to be replaced by Delco ones...this is not as bad as it sounds though and the GM sensors are much cheaper & more common than Toyota ones and seem to be very reliable.

    2. The Delco ECU is not programmable straight out of the car, there are a few little tricks you will need know. Luckily there is loads of info on the web about this – Checkout - www.moates.net for starters.
Basically you will end up replacing the standard chip in the ECU with a programmable EEPROM chip which enables you erase and reprogram with an EEPROM progarammer.

    3. To program the Chip you will need Software – This is the good part, the software is free to download and use - www.tunerpro.net
But you can also look at Kalmaker.com.au (I used Kalmaker to program mine)

    4. Also Toyota injectors will not work with the Delco ECU. (Resistance to Low)

    5. The Delco ECU can work with multiple input signals for timing control, including a Crank Trigger sensor which means no more distributor!!! You can use individual coil-packs and an ignition module (which are Dirt cheap from the US).
Im working on this right now…

one assumes the sensors all have a different thread on them to toyota or do they still just fit in alright

I did this conversion a few years ago, and cannot recall exactly how easily all the sensors fitted into the 18RG manifold, but i recall it wasn' t to difficult. Throttle position sensor was a little tricky though as it mounts on the opposite side of the throttle body as the Camira. The only 2 threaded sensors we the air & coolant temp sensors. I will be taking some photo's & give some more info soon...

As far as i know you can use most GM & Ford injectors, as they use a similar (High) impedance (sorry not resistance). The original 18RGEU injectors were low impedance. Im using Bosch injectors (from a Ford) which i got through a friend.

The last model camira (JE) used a MAP sensor, this is the only model camira which is any use for the conversion. Forget about all the older Camira's like the JD which used the Air Flow meter, the sensors and ECU will not work....

I finally got around to taking a few picts of my EFI manifold with the GM sensors attached.
You can see the MAP, Air Temp and TPS sensors clearly.

    Hi Guys

Forgot to let you know how the XT130/18RG s/charged went on track..

Anyone that wants a cheap weapon..this is for you.
    18RGEU stock with SC14 running 7psi and holly350 with 64 main jets.
Only did 3 laps of its 1st race before the biggest rollover ive seen in 35 years of speedway.

Racing against 350hp V6 Vt commodores and turboed 6cyl cortina's.

took it easy for 2 laps then lit it up down the main straight...ohoh waaay toooo fast for turn one...If i had stayed on its wheels it would have flogged them all.

Just built a new XT130 with the old 18R this time....Need big cam for it..Anyone got one or know where i can get a billitt..Waggott could only grind to 30/70 with standard cam...
