have you tried getting onto BLUEWIRE, he supercharged his 18rgeu, although it was injected. I saw him at the adelaide motor show, he said the SC made too much heat and was looking into an underbonnet water injector and an ems upgrade so he could run the car for longer periods of time
just a thought... good luck with build!

Sorry to be OT but why would you want to do this???Originally Posted by dale30

VN ecu and loom bypasses the need for O2,speedo,trans sensors etc:.
Later models need just about everything to run. one of them goes into limp mode without rear screen demister.
AU's have to run full instemet cluster..

Is the 18R water pump the same as the 18RG.??
I want to replace the pump but it will be cheaper and easier to ask for a celica one..
Just found out that the 18r oil filter adaptor doesnt fit under the intake manifold.
Is there a different adaptor for the RGEU or do do have to use a short filter..
Hope not cause i buy my filters by the box and i still got 16 left.

You'll need a shorter filter (2JZ-GTE filter fits nicely), or do what I did and use a remote oil filter adapter.

18R and RG are the same water pump.
I dont know the rules of ur speedway car stuff, but have u considered a 21RC? or even 22RE?

If you are going injection (as per post #44) an intercooler is then an option.
Would still run WATER injection only pre supercharger, apparently has a reasonable effieciency boost on the Toyota superchargers by providing better sealing as well as removing heat.
Run an extra injector off the injector circuit sized to put in about 15% of total fuel rate and run a Thottle Position Switch to its power supply so that doesnt inject at low revs.
Dont run any additives in water injection if running pre cooler or will build up in cooler and decrease heat transfer and flow.
I'm with Norbie on the 21-22 options.

Couldnt get all the mising bits quick enough so ive gone with the 350 holley on to of the SC14 with what i believe will be around 8PSI boost.Originally Posted by jonra23
Because i cant afford to convert the 350 to methanol at the moment i will run a water injection unit pre SC14.
I was going to run the 22RE but was howled down on here for not using the RG.
Any clues what 8PSI boost raise the 8.3:1 comp to.??

To calc theoretical compression ratio is cylinder compression X ((14.7 + boost)/14.7)
So 12.8 =8.3 X ((14.7 + 8)/14.7)
If you are not running an intercooler inject methanol instead of water through a water injection type system to get better cooling and resistance to detonation.

Well we finally got it running..Damn it sounds strong.....
Cant drive it yet, Cause is still dont got a thermostat housing,
Everything seems to go great but have small problem maybe.
When you back off from high revs there seems to be a lag, maybe half to one second.
So when I come hard off the revs, they dont come down straight away.
I am assuming its because there is still unburnt mixture in the pipe and inlet manifold.??
Anybody else come accross this or have a solve for it?

the 'lag' is probably the high air-flow and vacuum that the carbi sees before the engine runs down significantly
Also - is timing locked or does the vacuum advance still exist? if it's the later, you want it plumbed in ahead of the SC and the curve recalibrated to produce less mechanical advance.
fwiw: i ran big stromberg (SU-style) CD175 carbi in front of my old turbo (on an 18R) - it backed off quite well without any zorst popping or surging. You could probably find a big stromgberg off an old Volvo or a Jag engine i think but you'd still have to re-jet it. They're a lot simpler than Holley or rochester carbs. A side-draft DCOE webber would also be a good thing as they breath quite well at full noise
For detonation control i had a water injection (pre-turbo) kicking in at about 5psi.
wow that was quick.
What does the bracket look like, how did you solve the pulley on the crank being a different style of belt to the pulley on the SC
how was it mounted, how did you wire it up?
what ddoes the piping look like?
Easist way to answer all that is if i take a couple of pics with answers.WILL TRY TAKE SOME TONITE AND POST UP AFTER TEA SOMETIME..bloody caps lock...Originally Posted by barned01
