Where do these hoses go? Please Help!

Hi Guys,

JZA70 1J into a MZ20 Soarer - I have two hoses left over and no idea where they're meant to go. One comes from the bottom of the charcoal cannister, and the other i'm not sure! (too lazy to jack the bloody thing up yet again) I've marked the hoses in red in the hope someone can tell me where they should be plugging in.








I am having trouble getting the car to run. See here:-

I beleive the problem to be electrical, and not to do with these hoses though...

do they suck or push air when you start the car?

The one in my hand in the top photo comes from the bottom of the charcoal cannister... I don't beleive it pushes or pulls air... it does smell like petrol though. I haven't chcked the other hose, it heads down too far for me to see where it goes.

charcol canister will have one line coming FROM the tank into the canister for fumes to run through.

the other hose on the canister will go from the canister into your TVV (thermo vaccum valve) or intake somewhere i believe so that the excess fumes can be burnt off in the combustion process.

lower hose looks like its coming from a fuel type metal line so id assume this is the one that feeds into the canister.

There should be a hardline coming along the chassis rail that feeds into a rubber line which then feeds into the top (I believe, from memory) of the charcoal canister and vents the fuel tank.

The hose from the bottom of the charcoal canister will vent down into the back of the x-member/front subframe (it just pokes through a hole)

The other thinner hose is just the vacuum line which runs off the back of your plenum...

But basically just take the fuel tank vent hose and poke it straight into the x-member and remove the carbon canister
