Default 32/36 DGV Weber help needed

Hopfully just a quick question about the twin throat down draught 32/36 DGV weber carby.

Ive only used DCOE's and IDF's, which have no fuel return line, but im trying to put a 32/36 on a car with no fuel return line. From what i understand, the fuel goes in one side and comes out the other side, and then there is anther pipe (same type, with the knob at the end) close by, which has nothing attached to it. To run the carby with no return line, do i connect the fuel out to this other pipe?
Thanks for any help, im gunna buy a huge weber manual that covers all the types, but i wont have if for a while.

What engine is this going on?

In the past I have played with a few of these carbs, some with and some without return lines. Ive had them on ford engines and one on a 2T. I even helped put one on a Gemini. For the Gem the car didn't have a return line, and the carb did have an outlet. We just attached and short length of hose and pluged the end of it. It didn't look pretty but it never leaked or gave any problems.

If the car has a return line in place just hook it up and you shouldn't have any problems. These carbs seem to me, to work best when you have a flow going through the line, ie having a return. But in all the times I've seen them used without a return there have been only minor things like the odd leak or worn out fuel pumps as they cant flow the fuel back to the tank.

These are a good carbie and I'd like to see pics of it fitted.

This is for a LC torana, 4cly, 1.7ltr i think, non-cross flow head (not the starfire like in XT rona's).
Ive put one on a gemini before, but it had a return line. (TX, TC, TD, TE had electric fuel pumps and return lines, TF and TG's have mechanica fuel pump, and probably no return.)

So your saying, jsut plug the return line? Thats what i was going to do, but then i noticed the 3rd pipe, and thought maybe thats what it is meant for.

I am also going to put one of these on a 18R-C, RA40's dont have return lines do they?

O, and Rinmax, did you find that the carbiess do better with a return line with DCOE's? I see in ur sig that u have a ta22 with solexs and dellortos, did u achieve a return line with the use or a T type fuel union for both carbies?

if your pump is self-regulating, then you can easily block the return line.
i had some crappy carby type elec pump that put out max 3psi, into a 32DMS (similar) carb.. blocked the return line. all good.

if your pump is not regulated, then you might want to look into doing that...

Can mechanical pumps be self regulating? How can you tell?
How can you tell for electic pumps? Are 18R-C's self regulating?
    O, and thanks heaps oldcorollas!

umm... the mechanical pump on K series engines (at leats the early ones) are self regulating.

if the 18R-C carb does not have a return line, then it is probably self regulating. you could put a pressure gauge in there and see what happens...

the elec one i had said it could only do 3psi max again, test with pressure gauge if needed. gauges are cheap..

I'm not sure on what the 3rd pipe is for and I can't remeber it being hooked up to anything either.

As for comparing to DCOE's, I'd take the DCOE's. The 32/36 is an excellant carb though and is worth the upgrade from standard.

    Best of luck with it.

3rd pipe is a breather for the float bowl. I had a 32/36 on my 21R. Blocked off the return line with a bolt (which leaked)... used the mechanical fuel pump which was self regulated. Good carby for a stocko motor!

Ah, a breather, so it should have a rubber pipe and filter on it!
    Thanks guys.
