well they must be the lower spectrum of the population, IQ wise then
i went on there to post my car for sale, made me feel sick some their threads, absolutely ridiculous, as a n example they had a thread about how a police car crashed and the driver was seriously injured and they were making fun of it and saying how he deserved it and shit cos he was a cop, i was shocked.
    havent been back

    end rant

    Hi,

Well I saw the following link in someone's sig... http://royaldrift.proboards42.com/index.cgi and I decided to check it out. It makes a great argument why we have rules here on Toymods and why I think this site is parsecs beyond the kiddy/wookie sites. I especially liked the "Hitchikers Guide to Finding the G-spot" in the Tech Documents & Reference Section, amongst other gibberish throughout the site.

But, as OC said, perhaps these sites are perfectly suitable for the clients they attract - and good luck to them - as it means there's less dunderclumps on this site.

Oh, and I noticed that after all my hard work in finding those posts that were locked, there hasn't been any reply to make a case why those posts should not of been locked.

Grow up, and get over yourself. So much for you not ranting.

In the future, read the rules or deal with the consequences. And that doesn't mean creating a thread to whinge about black and white basic rules that define and bound a community.

Without rules there would be chaos.

    - Locked (28-08-2006 bu BlackSupra) Wasting bandwidth

So, that's 19 posts deleted in a month out of approx 200 posts. Now, I've gone to the bother to find these gems, the least I expect is for those people that say that we kill their fun and lock posts (as though we lock every post there is), please go and read through the above posts and let me know what scintillating fun and wit they found. In other words, what locked posts from the above list are worthwhile and deemed to be necessary to fulfill your enjoyment of these forums?

River, sorry I didn't get a reply to this thread earlier on, but I haven't been back to Toymods till now. I did take the time to read what you had posted, since you obviously took the time to research it. The only lock that I find strange is the one I have qouted above, which seems to be non-car discussion, and was a thread that was going somewhere. It was a repost, which wasn't the reason BlackSupra locked it for, which seems a bit strange as it seems to fit in with what non-car is for.

Just a question for all the long-time Toymodders, has what is being posted in non-car (problem threads I mean) been posted by regulars who seem to still treat non-car as outhouse, or is most of the problem threads posted by noobs to Toymods who haven't read the rules? If its the later, has this become more of a problem since video sites like Youtube have become more popular. Sorry that isn't phrased very well, I'm not feeling that great at the moment, but this is something I was thinking of the other day and curious to hear comments on this.

I know what you mean.... alot of it is due to the Youtool sites. it is the same general type of group of people live on toymods and/or are new and are posting for rep.

Funny thing is I've been looking on other tech auto sites and the problem doesn't exist.

Can you come to any conclusion as to why Toymods seems to be the only auto tech site with the problem, and did the other sites have a non-car section of the forum aswell?

Is it possible to write into the script a way of stopping links to certain websites being linked....I.E. when you add a link to a webshite and try and post it the script recognises it as a blocked website and wont allow the post to be made...If you feel this would push members away maybe have the sticky interwebs thread which is the only place links to the blocked websites can be posted?

The ONLY rule that i have a problem with on these forums is the fact that guests cannot view our classifieds section.

I mean sure, we all want our yota's to go to someone who will love and care for them just as much, however, alot of us want to reach the broader market.

I know you will all probably go "well get it out on ebay, trading post, other forums etc"

BUT - Toymods is an extremely well presented and organised site and is a great place to advertise our vehicles.

Fair enough, Guests cant post, but why cant they even view our threads?!?!?

There are going to be people out there that will join simply so they can view the forums, but I also believe the greater majority aren't going to be bothered!

We, as members, are undoubtebly losing money, because we cannot reach that broader market through this site..... Can anything be done about this or will I be forced to advertise elsewhere aswell???

Sorry guys, I'm deviating from the current topic.... But this has had me cracking the shits for ages now.

We as forum members or we as club members? Yet again the advertising comes up.
Toymods is not a free advertising service....

Yeah, many other tech sites have the same problem, only it is dealt with in different ways. NS encourages whoring, PF will accept you if you whore enough in a funny way. BoostCussing and FastTurds are completely whoring.

Also, that thread which you were wondering why the Dong closed it, it was actually a repost anyway.

    EDIT:

on the 1st point... Toymods is a CLUB first and foremost, the Forums is just a small part of it. If you look you will see there are monthly CLUB meetings and regular events. There are MANY sponser discounts to card carrying MEMBERS also.

On the 2nd point... But what does Toymods get out of 'Members' (I assume you mean forum members, as club members have payed registration fees) who simply use the boards as FREE advertising space, why should selling stuff on the boards line Advertisers pockets and not grace the Toymods Bank account. Why complain that you are losing money when doing something for free?
