AFAIK they have to be ADR approved. I can't remember exactly but the requirement for ADR approval is some kind of sleeve around the ends to stop dust/dirt getting in or something.
Hello All,
I'm thinking of getting stainless steel brake lines from the states for my cars as it's much cheaper to get then making them here. Is DOT Certified/Approved permitted to go on my car or do I have to get ADR Approved brake lines for cars in Australia?
Any advice/idea would be great.
Cheers.

I know my local brake mob makes ADR approved lines, perhaps hit up some local guys?

as you're in Vic... try this mob... http://www.maltech.com.au/brakehoses.html
Yeah I've got a quote from them, but they want 2 times the price of the lines compared to that I can get from the states. Also they want samples to make templates...
Don't think that is unresonable at all, you'll have legal brake lines. With local warranty.

Does anyone know of anywhere in NSW pref Sydney-Wollongong that does them?
I need to upgrade as I've found that since I put the coilovers in the rubber lines are rubbing on the rim a little (I cannot adjust the brake line support any more then I have).
hehe i know that Stevensons Hydraulics does them in dubbo! (it is in NSW)
Also i agree with Richard, paying almost double is worth it considering they are legal and u will have 0 problems with them!

Better Brakes have made a few sets for me, and I haven't had any issues... Braided lines are a bit pricey, and it's a lot cheaper to just get 'normal' braided hoses for brakes, but then they're not 'legal' - probably same story as the US ones.
