A choice between big +rep(100%), small +rep(50%), small slap(50%), big slap(100%)sort of thing.

doubt its possible seeing as this most likely requires modifications to the forum code...i believe many other people were willing to 'alter' the code for other reasons but the people that maintain the code dont allow it or something?

if the person has more than 30 rep, what does it matter. its really irrelevant in the scheme of things. there is no prizes for having massive rep, just that people will rely on your posts for valid and relevant information. everyone's rep is going to get HUGE eventually...doesnt matter how fast it gets there.

its only users with less than 10rep that other users will be warey of.

personally i think the rep system would be better off displaying the ratio of reputation per post. this way we can see the quality of the users post rather than just 700rep for a possible 20,000 posts. this would have to only apply to tech section though.

or an even better ratio would include rep, post count and time as a forum user.

that said, if the user has less than 30, then it would be worth holding off until they are deemed a worthy contributer. (instead of letting them reach 30 in one hit)

maybe your just scared that the person you are repping will be gettin X amount closer to your rep?

    my thoughts anyway

bad idea, some people post a lot for fun but have very good info with others! some people get most of there rep in genral etc not tech so a ratio wouldnt mean anything at all!
ratio would show people with less time and those with more most of the time besides the fact you get lees rep from people the higher you get because they think you dont need it but your giving the same info!
Thats why i laught at the ratio thread before, ratio has even less merit than rep alone as was proved with the thread.

Ithink a variable neg rep would be much better is it could be done. I dont know what my _neg rep is but i would prefur 1 or 2 neg 99% of the time to show what i thought as what ever i give seems a hard hit, so its a very rare thing for me to do. I just find it funny when someone gets hit with decent rep someone or multiable people come and take it straight back up so it really makes no diffrence in most cases.

Correct, it only shows who's GIVEN you rep (any kind of rep) on the last 20 instances, not when you've given it to someone else. I've quite often wondered why we don't have the full compliment of rep-givers in our User CP, but for some unbeknownst reason we can only view the latest 20.

    Hi,

It used to show only the last three or six, but was changed to show the last 20. This was also subject to a thread/discussion which would be in this section somehwere.

Interesting concept, just did some quick maths on some posters on this thread:

    Kirsty2520 - 106 posts - 91 rep - 86%
    brett_celicacoupe - 803 posts - 308 rep - 38%
    River - 1340 posts, 716 rep = 53%
    Squid - 714 posts - 229 rep - 32%
    Oldcorollas - 2609 posts - 748 rep - 29%
    Me - 888 posts - 186 rep - 21%
    KingMick - 2516 posts - 499 rep - 20%

    edit - hopefully fixed

Hm, but does the feedback section actually count in post counts. I thought it was just Gen Car and Tech...

If you look at all your posts you have, however only the ones in general and the tech section count towards your official post count.

But Kirsty has also actually made 476 posts
    If in doubt power out

Doh - I must have had too many windows open and gotten confused

Feel free to do your own maths, I was just curious....

It should have been 106 posts and 91 rep, still giving 86%.

I have no idea why I put feedback instead of rep, perhaps I had the feedback forum on my mind,,,,

That hadn't occured to me - How do you work out total count if someone has over 500 posts? I'm kinda scared about Mick's total...
