lol and the "view all posts " only goes up to 500 posts, so a ratio wouldnt work at all, as the ones that dont show are all noncar and mebers sections and rides etc.
there is no way to work it out at all if someone has over 500 posts in there "show all posts" and as a lot get there rep not from giving car knowledge the ratio system wouldnt work at all

see thats exactly why ratio wouldnt work! a lot of people with low post counts get the rep not in the tech or general threads but other places for other reasons.

p.s and im not talking anyone as an individiaul, im talking as a whole.

I worked that out after I'd done the maths....

It would be interesting to see rep values if you could only get rep for posts in the general or tech sections..

Another interesting point is that a lot of my rep comes from answering KE20/25 specific questions asked via PM which I am sure a lot of other people on this forum with conversions and modifications would recieve too. This obviously not reflected in post counts etc.

I don't think it's possible. Except for the admins who can use an inbuilt search engine to pull out the stats.

Is it possible to have the ability, when giving/taking rep, to provide how much you rep you wish to offer?

This is a bit of a problem with rep and in theory there is a new rep system being worked on by the vbulletin guys. At the moment this is not available and is not included in the 3.6 update which we'll be getting installed on the near future.

The way I see it is that if someone made a post that is worth "you" giving them rep then give them rep. It's a measure of how valuable your contribution to the community is and in theory making a contribution that is seen by users with a high rep should be an indicator of the contribution being worthwhile.

The thing I don't like is that it would be nice to be able to give rep to someone for being a top bloke or funny or what ever but not have it be treated as a measure of their technical contribution. This is one of the things that should come with the updated rep systm when it get's completed, there will be a variety of different types of reputation that can be given for different calsses of contribution.

I can understand what river is saying... I've had people with ~15 rep neg rep me for basically calling a friend of theirs out... and it's just too harsh to dish out whatever my neg rep is (6?) for a person who's just a fledgling.

Be good to see how the Vbulletin updates go in the future.. I had jhust assumed, as josh said, that it wasn't possible as yet
