Joel modified a KE70 Crossmember to fit into his RA28. Think theres a few links to a few different ways to go about it aswell.

Nah, just rack & pinion, non powered, and it's a '23 dagnabit!Originally Posted by SillyCarS
The question has to be asked why you'd want power steering in a '28, unless you're putting in big heavy motor like a JZ (or god forbid a 7M). Matt of Magic Performance has R&P power steering in his 1JZ RA23, I can't remember off the top of my head what it was out of though.
If you want better steering do a R&P conversion, if you want P/S for the sake of it I'm sure someone's used a powered steering box out of an early crown before.

a power steering box that comes to mind is the MX62 cressida. ive succesfuly made this setup work and it was essentially a bolt up affair. note that this was on a RA40.
RA40 steering box is slightly different to the RA23/28.
unless your willing to cut/shut/weld and then pay for engineers certification then i wouldnt bother.

ive only got one arm and i bet the mussel on it is bigger than both of yours....only jokes. just want to do it to see if it can be done. ps my ra63gt with 18rgeu has power steering and its like driving a new car.
yeh exactly.Originally Posted by river
after i got the power steering working on the RA40 test car. i was laughing at how light it was.
it was possible to stick ONE finger in a spoke of the steering wheel and then proceed to turn the steering wheel effort-less-ly
and that was with 14" 225's on the front![]()

hello
I recently compared a rt142 crossmember to a ta23 crossmember. They are just about the same width and the lower control arm brackets are in the same location. RT142's came out with power steering as well. The rt142 crossmember has the advantage of being a rearward style configuration, opening the door to many engine conversions that use a front sump. The rt142 steering column looks the same as the ke70's (I havent actually compared) and they just about bolt into RA celicas. If I had a go at a rack and pinion conversion again, id seriously look into using an rt142 corona setup.

im nearly 100% sure RT142 xmembers are the same as RA65/60
for memory the RA60 LCA holes are about 20mm further out on each side

Hmm, interesting thought.. I might need power steering on my ke20 depending on how painful the driving assessor is when i go back for another assessment (broke my neck 5 mths ago, so don't give me this girly man shitOriginally Posted by brett_celicacoupe

hello
the cross member on the ra 65gt is a rear facing one with a front mounted sump. so we will see. this car was sent to me with turbo stickers on the sides which look like factory ones but it has an 18rgeu in it. even the build plate on it says 18rgeu on it. its deffinetly a jap import. will be fun to swap parts thats whats its all about.
