Supercharger clutch timer

Hey dude,

I was wanting to setup a clutch on a supercharger to engage and dis-engage on load, however I dont want this happening everytime I change gear, so I was wondering how to delay the disengaging, is there some kind of device that I can use that will allow an ajustable time between loosing signal(load signal from ECU) and toggling the clutch to disengage?

Use the power from circuit that you are going to engage supercharger clutch though a brake light type switch on clutch pedal to trigger start circuit, set to instant on, delayed off edge triggered.

That way when supercharger is on and touch clutch pedal switches power into supercharger clutch for what ever time it is set at.

maybe you could wire the SC clutch such that it can be put in 3 modes.
one is permanently off, one is permanantly on and the other is 'auto' ie controlled by the ECU.

all you need is a 3 pin, 3 position toggle switch that you can buy from jaycar etc.

the middle pin will be the output that goes to the SC, one of the outers will have a constant 12v supply, and the other outer pin has the SC on/off feed from the ECU

You can run a little circuit between your ECU (I assume aftermarket of some description) and the SC clutch. The circuit will switch the clutch on as soon as the ECU commands, but wait for a period before switching it off if the ECU signal drops.

Note that the ECU output must pull to earth when active and go to open circuit (or 12V) when not active for the circuit to work.

Simple to wire up.

I used a Jaycar timer kit, but Hen's solution is more elegant.
