That would be all well and good.

but the man tested it, found it wasnt blown.

so what am i supposed to do? bring it back and say TK test it again? at my cost? only to have him tell me its fine when i know it isnt?

Take itt somewhere else. Youve had one test say BHG, one test say no BHG, I'd be after a thrid opinion. In regards to timing, you need a timing light. Barring your CAS or belt being a tooth out though, I cant see why it'd be set at maximum at advance or retard (and I cant remember which is which either atm). Is it really sluggish off the line or does it ping up high?

    doesnt ping, isnt sluggish.

"the man" is the owner and operator of the Workshop that did my head reconditioning and BHG repair.

    he says its not blown.

it got worse today, im getting frothing in the radiator, so im taking it back and say.

    oi, dickhead, yeah it is.

Gotta love "warranty" work... they'll try and get out of it anyway possible

obviously they've not worked on 7M's before..
"nah mate, can't be a BHG again"
Sorry buddy - but it still looks like a 7MGTE under the bonnet - so most likely its a BHG!

Things for me to look forward to.. *sigh*

Well Damo, had they done the work properly, im certain it wouldnt have blown.

ive taken it easy on the motor, especially since it had the busted turbo on it, but they just didnt do it properly, i even told them to put nextra torque on the bolts, which i dont think they listened.

i think a main factor was the rush to get it back to me, as they had it for 3 weeks!

so would a 2J, 1UZ, or even a 1G, or... even if the workshop actually put the effort in and did the job properly

so is this really a BHG or not..? U've had 3 opinions now eh... and shouldn't it be conclusive (from "the man's mouth") so they can get started on fixing it? and be careful they don't just dump chemiweld into the engine as a temp fix... seeing as to how they'd try to avoid doing the job again ..

Keep at them Eldar. If the TK test came up positive, get it checked again. If theres smoke there is fire. Perhaps you should remind them how much a replacement head costs when it finally dies and warps the head and they cant deny it.
