Well i cant make it work with the BA Falcon rotor.

Was looking into Audi A8 (321mm) as an alternative, but if you say that i may need to look into alternative 300mm options

I need a hat height of around 63mm to clear the ball joint and maximise the space for the caliper behind the wheel and infront of the rotor. That is my main clearance problem.

By running a smaller hat height (<60mm) the nissan logo on the caliper will hit the back of the rim spokes.

I have dished front rims, so wont affect those people running the higher offsets.

There is no way around this.
Reading the ZOOM article and grant reported that the pads have full contact with the rotor. (on a JZA80 rotor 323x30)

The problem is the actual factory mounts are in the way of mounting the caliper and it's impossible to get the caliper any closer.

Thus you need the bigger disc to space out to where the actual caliper is.

Have you got any pics showing the GTR rotor and the caliper sitting over them, showing the pads?

Its not possible to have full pad coverage of R32 calipers and 300+mm disc (I'm assuming R33 is identical to R32 just with longer legs).

I ground a mm or so off the caliper and there was still caliper/disc interference.

You'd have to grind more than a mm off the caliper to get the clearance.

    No pics yet.

I dummied it up with cardboard and i see what you mean.

IF in fact the R33 has longer legs then this is causing me a drama, do you know or could you possibly measure an R32 caliper leg height for me?

Is there any problem with elongating the exisiting holes to make the exisiting 100mm bolt spacing into 110mm ??

it isn't a threaded section, and the bolts willbe fastened to the calipers, through these holes....

    A new possibility is LS400 rotors (315 x 28) with a hat height of 53.5 mm.

Elongate the mounting holes on the hub, mount the caliper infront of the hub (as per stock setup) but bolt it up without using a bracket.

This will leave 25.5mm of space from the face of the rotor to the back of the rim. I need 28mm to clear the caliper, so hoping shaving off NISSAN will do the trick.

    Thoughts and or comments?

An engineer will not pass elongated holes.
    I can guarantee you that.

Sell your Nissan calipers. They're an inferior product anyway..... (jk)

Buy new JZA80 4 spots through Jay Marks in the USA. I think they come out to about $800 AUD the pair (although that price was a little while ago).

    Fit and flaunt.

Remember that for $1500, you could get a pair of CP5200. That's a serious caliper with serious pad surface area and serious pad material choice. The beauty of these is that they are a rather low profile caliper and allowed me to run my 330mm rotors under 16" rims. Worth having a think about, particularly if buying them allows you to not have to upgrade your rims and rubber - whilst the initial outlay for 2 calipers comes to a shock, the total outlay is not that great when you consider all the other things you have to change to stay with the cheaper calipers. My humble opinion anyway....

Why does it matter? You'll (very likely) need to make a caliper bracket anyway.

Hang the caliper bracket from that. That's all I did with the MX23.

    Is it a slimline caliper?

Basically with the current 100mm bolt spacing of the R33 calipers its going to be impossible to mount them without hitting the back of the rims.

    110mm? R33 calipers are 100mm bolt spacing.
