shane could the fuel consumption be related to the fact that an RB30ET simply isnt an efficient motor?

Jake Aldou's VL ran a 9.1 at @150 (heathcote ghey) and that runs an autronic...he has no dramas with it either

In the end I don't think you could go wrong with either ecu. It really does depend on the tuner in the end. I love my microtech as it is just so damn easy to use I have had a look at the autronic software and no doubt it is good and very indepth but it is a lot more difficult to get a hang of than microtech. Wolf was easy also but not as easy as the microtech. That is a big thing for me as I do the majority of tuning myself.

I would eeny meeny miny moe it if you have the cash

550cc injectors vs 1000cc injectors matty, any ecu can go fast, i felt the whole argument for why to go one ecu over the other was around features and functions, not how fast you can go.

V/E has alot to do with efficiency as well as tuning. the rb30 isnt the most efficient thing around.

the autronic software is easy to use but i wouldnt say its simple like a microtech, but then again riding a bike isnt easy the first time you jump on so i suppose it depends on what your use to.

if you spent an hour playing with an autronic on the dyno and figuring out all the hotkeys tuning one is a pinch of piss provided you know what your doing ie: have tuned an engine before.

If you only going drag racing you can bolt a carby on and get to the other end

Drag racing is about the worst possible application to rate an ECU on, its really not that hard to acheive a "tune" that will run at WOT.

At the end of the day the result wil only ever be as good as the lowest denominator of your overall package.

If you have a cheap ECU with limited ability then the best engine builders work and the best tuner on the planet may not acheive all that is possible from the engine. Running well doesn't mean its at its "best" either.

By the same token you can buy the best available ECU and parts and if you tuner isn't skilled enough it will still run like a busted arse.

You only need one sub standard part or poor workmanship to spoil the "perfect" package. Which part you choose to skimp on is up to you but for me there is no such thing as too much flexability, potential or control when it comes to managing an engine of any investment level.

I'm going to run a autronic SM4 with my auto 2jz from what i've read and speaking with those running the SM4 and the guys tuning that particular ECU its comparable to more expensive units that are capable of controlling the automatic and have a decent tuning range.

ps. i havnt read any of the rest of the thread

dunno yet as i wont need the ecu for a year or so, i might use stock ECU as piggy back controlling the auto depending on the recommendation of the guy tuning my car i'm debating whether to tune here in bris or take it up to the SM4 tuners in north QLD that are putting out impressive finished tunes.

missed some of your posts 1jz.747, there are some guys that are considered good but if the car had an autronic and 550s then it should drive perfect and deliver good economy, i would look into that and if the tuner didnt figure out what was wrong with it then he hasnt really done his job. in saying that some ppl dont have big budgets and maybe the bill was well over that so the tuner didnt have the oportunity to finish what he started.

i know of a few cars with 1000cc injectors on a 500cc cyl that have passed emission tests with autronics on them so something is wrong with that guys setup.
