Clutch LSD => Torsen LSD

SillyCarS there is a thread on here somewhere about someone who put a supra torsion centre, and the 3.9 (or was it 4.1) cw and p into the hilux g series housing.
They had to have a spacer made to slightly position the torsion centre and also had to skim the top off of the pinion gear to stop the centre fouling on it when it spun around.
After that it worked fine for them.

no wait, im wrong

i have a 4 point pinnion lsd for a g series and from what i've read these are hilux???... so maybe i wont have any probs???

i'll go out and get a housing with 4.1:1 and let you know how it goes

That would be me who put the JZA70 torsen carrier into my hilux diff. Has been doing just fine for the last few months.
However if i were doing it again, i'd probably just get a tru-trac centre and be done with it!

Yes thats correct. I have learned lots since I first posted in this thread. I fitted the G series JZA70 torsen LSD into the hilux carrier and it didnt require any modifications at all. But I have heard that some hilux and hiace carriers/housings are different shape and some require machining like what is stated above. The Torsen that I sold ($500 in near new condition) the guy put it in his 1st Gen RX7 that had hilux diff conversion, and it bolted straight up. Geeeze I love how toyotas have interchangable parts.

Also toyota parados come out with torsen centers (optioned only) so if your after one for a supra it should bolt straight in also.

As for the F series, i have only heard of the tru-track ones. In the states apparentle some of the hiluxs (not sure what model) have torsens in the front diff (standard too) and they are an F series center.

The Altezza's run a factory F series torsen diff, when mine is fitted to my MS112 Crown housing I will get pics and confirm any fitment problems. I know AE25 has trial fitted one but not had it in use, was very very slightly narrower so spacers may be needed.

well i may as well add this.
I have noticed 2 distinct hilux g series carrier housings at least.
one has 4 bracing ribs on each side (this is the one i have sitting in my dining room, came from a bundera so i was told).
and there is one with 3 bracing ribs on each side also (what i saw connected up to the rn27 diff housing i found at UPI in lonsdale a while back.)

I was curious if the difference between these housings is the reason why some dont fit and some do.

Pure In Sanity...does your carrier housing have 3 ribs or 4 (i suspect 3 but who knows)

07XTC does the mate with the rx7 hilux diff conversion have the 3 or 4 ribs on the carrier (i suspect 4)?

well i got my diff back today with the mounts all done... looks sweet

i did a trial fitting of the 4 point pinnion lsd and it looks like this

it is a bit offset there to the rhs isn't it

i'm waiting for a guy over here in adelaide from "tuff stuff 4wd" to get back to me with a centre, i'll let you know how it goes

aw yeah, prob gunna run either 4.1 or 4.4 to 1 (depending on what i can get my hands on) to get some good 60 footers

Can anyone tell me what splines fit what spiders? I can get a centre from an MA61 but I dont know if the Corona Mark 2 axles will fit the centre. Anyone know?
