when you go to those places, take a tool bag with lots of inside pockets.

if you are holding X part, and they say "that looks like Y part" just go along with it, it is usually because Y part is cheaper, those guys have a certain sense of humor.

tip 2

a 4AGE will comfortably fit in the boot of a sprinter, just tie some rope between the seat latches to give you a false sense of security, you can tie it to the hatch latch (or something near there) too. if you take your hatch off you can get it in without putting holes in the inside hatch cover panel.

man i hate it when people say that especially when selling cars. i have no problem with negotiating but if someone told me "this is all i brought with me" i tell them thats what they'll be taking home

Hi,
Time for the "super tight-ass" tips.

1. If you have done a conversion needing intercooler pipes (supercharger, turbocharger), and can't afford, or don't want an exhaust shop to install the pipes then :-

a. Use coat hangers to "map out" the pipe lengths and bends you need. Wire cutters and/or pliers to cut this to the appropriate lengths.

b. Use PVC pipes to simulate the pipes you need. Check out the old forums for a Corolla with a 4AGZE, with this piping.

2. If your intercooler pipe hoses are blowing apart, then use some wire to tie them together. Hook the wire around the part that you tighten with the screwdriver/spanner/shifter. I have seen fencing wire used..........

Dish washing liquid is the best for cleaning greasy hands. What I do is apply the liquid, add a teaspoon of OMO or what ever laundry powder, and rub it all in with the smallest amount of water. Let it soak for a bit then rinse. Always use cold water as hot water opens your pores and you end up rubbing the grease in further.

When you are going to polish youe car, get a clay bar. It makes the polish come off so much easier afterwards.

Dissconnect the battery whenever working on the electrical side of the car if you don't need it connected.

Don't own a shifter. There is a spanner/socket for every size bolt/nut out there.

To clean tools, soak in really hot water with dishwashing liquid. Dry thougherly afterwards.

Run ATF in you engine for a little bit to clean out gunk.

Un-do the filler plug on your diff before un-doing the drain plug to drain the oil, otherwise you have to turn the car upside down to re-fill the diff.

Whe you change your brake pads, get some synthetic grease to lubricate the slides in the calipers (if applicable) and the mounting bolts. A few extra minutes work will pay off in the long run.

If using platinum plugs, remove them every 10,000 kays as they can sieze in the head.

If you are working on the car and it is starting to give you the shits, walk away for 10 -15 minutes. That is usually the time when something goes wrong.

Lot's of Tire shine in your inner guards will make it easier to remove burnt rubber after a skid.

Uh, i wouldnt be lubricating the mounting bolts at all. If anything i would be loctiting the mounting bolts to the strut. Especially after having seen what losing a mount bolt does at 180km/h.
