zero limits performance in brissy have a 1JZ EA drift car
Jst an update, i have decided to go 2J non turbo at this stage due to thinking about going 1g into corona. And also thinking this maybe a better long term choice. However this may change. Best thing bout this is that my grans going to put a little towards it so all smiles. If any one has anything further constructive to add feel free.

DOHC - Where is Zero Limits? And where is your avtar?
Pube, the C4 didnt come in the EA. The EA only had the options of the 3spd Bog Warmer, or the 4Spd BTR box. The bogger was good for boggerall power, and the BTR was prone to breaking down. Also, your diff ratio will probably be up the spout for a toyotamota conversion. And, not to mention the 24 spline bogger in there will suffer destruction in a most haneous fashion soon enough. The EB 4spd had a bog warmer with 28spline axles in it which is a bolt in fit to the EA, but the rear brakes are terrible to say the least, and the rotary handbrake on the disc calliper is prone to staying on. So, my suggestion would be to ditch the crap diff, and put in a F or G series LSD with the same ratio as the car you pull the gearbox from, or adjusted to your liking, and upgrade to some supra etc rear discs. Also, the front brakes are pitiful, and should be seen as neccesary to bin and upgrade, possibly BA or AU III items. Check out Hoppers Stoppers for bolt in upgrade packages to suit EA. Also, camber adjustment is a must, as the camber on the EA was so shite from factory, that they needed to apply for a special permit to fit camber kits for the stock race cars back in the day.
Good luck with the conversion, but your starting with one of the worst foulcans ever built, even worse than the XD box shaped SHbox. Also, being a fairmont, it is likely that you have the drivers seat with adjustable height... ditch that, they are prone to breaking, and are quite heavy too. Also, the speedos in them tend to break the gear that drives from the speedo to the odometer, so if that hasnt already been replaced, it will need to be very soon... and has nothing to do with how the car has been looked after, they just break. If you can pull the stuff apart yourself, the cog is available for about $15 or less from most instrument repair places.

Since your thinking of going for a 2jzge have you thought of the 1uz?.
just get a turbo and slam it on the side of the falcon 6 and run some sort off monster boost till it blows up, then put the toyota engine in. It could be fun![]()

Hurricane... Monster boost till it blows up?? Itll blow up as soon as you think about doin thatThe 3.9 was the uber barge motor!! Nothing good could be said of these motors at all, the were heavy on juice, produced park all powah and wore out quicker than mick doohan's knee plates. I would say forget sentiments and get something real... but then again sentiments are sentiments, and you really should look very closely at what will break very soon(like everything). Oh, and the headlights wear out on the EAs quicker than you can say boo.

For the budget and application I would go with an NA 2jz. As already mentioned they are cheap and plentiful and quite a good motor - their rep only suffers when compared to the turbo versions of the same.
The 1UZ is great for mods and there is about a cubic mile of empty space in the EA engine bay once the 6 has been removed. The increase in fuel consumption and registration/insurance costs is something that may need to be considered for a V8 though.
One thing that I would do is have a careful look over the ford before I considered the conversion - If he didnt tend to service it then it is likely that there are other things wrong with it - how are the breaks and suspension? paint? any metal cancer? previous accident damage? It really breaks my heart to see people do sweet engine conversions to a car that just isnt up to scratch body wise. If it is going to cost a crapload to get the car looking respectable and handling properly then it may not be worth doing.
Either way please don't take me as being too discouraging! If the car is a good base for a conversion it would certainly be something a little different and a great way of remembering your grandfather. Enjoy it![]()
I'd put money on the 1UZ using a lot less fuel than the clunky old 3.9.Originally Posted by Starfire
