Default having problems winding boost over 15psi

i have a turboXS tee piece in my car, i only have to wind the thingo 2 turns to get it from 11-14 psi, but have to turn it another 2 turns to get it to 15psi. i am worried that i might be spinning the turbos too hard and the bov may be leaking or is this just normal

no ithink i have the same piece, we have found that when u get around that PSI that the turns on the controller become very unpredicable, ie say half a turn one time was 2 psi and next time it jumped it 5 psi ! and was 20 psi ! the turbos will be fine im pretty sure. its just they are funny lil controllers.

it may mean your turbos are begininng to be used out of their efficiency range.

or, your boost controller doesnt hold a linear relationship with the boost increase. ie one turn doesnt always equal 1 extra pound.

dont 1jz's have ceramic turbos??? =smash?

Might mean that turbo's just dont have enough huff in em, or that you have a restriction (normally the factory intercoolers etc) and you boost gauge is reading from the inlet manafold side of the intercooler, so it wont give you a accurate measurement what you are actually acheiving with your boost controler.
    Then again maybe not!!!! hehe

I'm going with the bleed valve not being linear. I've found that with mine. (albeit a gas reg, not a bleed valve).

hey i have the same issue with my Turbosmart bleed valve

sometimes you turn it heaps and it does f**k all and sometimes it raises boost by 3 or 4 psi.. its a random little bastard.. ..

atm.. im running over 15psi on a factory ct-26..sometimes i can hear it reach full boost and a leaky air noise starts to occur.. its not the bov coz i checked.. any hints?

solution - dont use mechanical bleed valves.

I found that a bleed valve if affected by outside temp - makes the boost pressure vary too much for my liking!

Very true, the smaller the restrictor before the bleed the greater the variance.

So what EBCs have people had success with? Have people found they "respond" quickly enough on cars with uber responsive turbos? i.e. smaller ones that spool extremely rapidly.

are the internal passages of the Tee piece become the biggest restriction?
tried a bigger T piece (ie, internal bore same as the tube?)
since you are bleeding air off, it needs to have flow, as opposed to a sense line (usual) which just needs pressure...

Oh and another issue with new bleeders fresh out of the packet is that some brands like to grease up the needle in the bleeder and it's threads. I was getting some crazy adjustment values on a bleeder the other night that was brand new and after a quick dismantle and inspection there was wads of grease restricting the job of the bleed needle - grease removed and it worked fine.

I had an average result with my Gizzmo, but I've seen other people have no worries whatsoever. I had problems with boost yoyoing around my set point. My boost comes on fairly progressively to about 10psi then shoots up like a rocket to 17psi, you can see it on my dyno charts as a massive power jump and it feels like someones put a rocket under it.

I ended up purchasing an eBoost2 and even with minimal tuning i've got it a heap better. When i have my Adaptronic and can do some logging i'm going to spend some time tweaking it to the nth degree and turn on the correction feature so I can force the controller to hold full boost to redline.

You haven't been able to hold the preset boost to redline with any other controllers? i.e. you have a falling boost curve?

Glad I didn't get a Gizzmo then, I was going to pick one up in NZ (I thought the country of manufacture would be cheaper than here) but they were more expensive in the store there than here.
