Realistically, 250rwkw should be considered the upper limit if you want a reliable streeter, and some would say even that is pushing it.
Myself, I've put down 236rwkw with a 5-speed and around 17psi boost. Mods are limited to a big FMIC, 3" exhaust, bleed valve and FCD. While that doesn't sound like a huge amount of power, you also have to consider the very wide powerband you get with a 2JZ-GTE - believe me when I tell you it's blisteringly quick on the road!![]()

norbie do you think much more is possible with a piggyback PC such as an emanage?
i.e. is it worth the $800 or so bucks to get one, fit it and tune it?

There's definitely power to be gained by taking some fuel out of the stock maps. Take a look at any dyno run with a stock 2JZ-GTE, as soon as it comes on boost the AFR's drop well below 11:1 and stay there. Nice and safe but by no means optimum for power.Originally Posted by MR 1JZ
Whether the power you gain justifies the money spent is another matter though. Unless you're planning more serious mods in the near future (eg turbo upgrade) I'd say don't bother.
I might add that I have a very low opinion of piggyback ECU's in general, but that's another matter.

cheers for that norbs...I was considering a T67 or T78 upgrade at some point but I just realised today than I cant be fucked doing it...not for a road car...
looks like 230rwkw is the aim then...more than enough![]()

would the 2J ECU be smart enough to use AFR maps - or does it not have a wide-band O2 sensor (required to do AFR maps)?
Am just curious if a piggyback ECU's efforts to cut fuel during boost might make the factory ECU re-correct if AFRs under boost are not what it expects.
I was only beaten by 12.6hp by manual supra with a tunable ECU running more boost than me at a supra dyno day. The fact that it was manual should have gotten an extra 20-30hp alone...do you think much more is possible with a piggyback PC such as an emanage?

Hellz no is the answer with the stock ECU. It is very much narrow band O2, and it goes open loop as soon as you get busy with the go pedal (i.e. most of the timeOriginally Posted by thechuckster

Our new Aristo arried today and is now part of the extensive HPI and Zoom fleet.
Can't wait to mod this thing.
I'm even towing the Cyborg to Jambo with it and just for laughs run it over the quarter.
