Check all the main things dude.

Fuel, spark, exhaust blocked, intake blocked.

Is it smooth as at idle?

What does it do at 3800, just hold there like a rev limiter, or hunt?

Like a rev limiter. its completely perfect in every other way. So its a computer fault or something, as its 3800 in every gear i checked

Unplug the TPS and try it again.

Check for error codes on the ECU, sounds like it might be some sort of "limp home" safety mode.

Failing any of these suggestions your best bet would probably be to take it to your friendly toyota dealer. They should be able to diagnose it pretty easilly.

Once they tell you whats wrong with it buy the parts required off the forum

Also check that the timing isnt locked. I had this a while back in my GZE where i forgot to pull out the timing lock short after timing it. Wont rev past about 4000rpm.

Chech that the engine hasnt been washed and filled the plug holes in the heads up with water, the water then wicks up the leads and gets a wet tracking down past the plug to earth. Seen it a few times on these V8's

could be air flow meter make sure there are no air leaks in induction

did u change gearbox or do anything just before this happened

there are a number of things that make the engine not rev out

does it still try to rev up thru the problem even when u keep it floored
or is it rev limiting at an exact rev

interested to see if you figure it out. we had a 1J with the same issue. changed quite a lot of things to try and fix it. the guy ended up reving it up and boosting at free rev (because it didn't limit in N) and the motor started making bad noises so we may never know...

The 1UZ-FE in the Soarer's rum MAP sensor as well air air flow meter. Just check to make sure the MAP sensor is still connected. Top LH on intake plenum.

    cheers Chuck.
