Doesnt the soarer need a signal from a presure sensor from the traction contol pump, they spit code 12 dont they? they only rev to 2500 or somthing
Dave
is the car std or is the engine in another car
ive had afew jobs where they have a rev limit of exactly 2500
this is cause its in limp mode
is your speedo working and / or has anyone tried to bypass the 180km speed limiter?. I have heard of some jap cars having a secondary safety to stop people getting around the speed limiter by disconecting the speedo. IE they will not rev harder than top gear revs at 180km. in any gear . also check park nuetral switch for same reason .
Is it posible that your speedo has been "flicked" and damaged as a result, making the ECU think that it is not connected? and going into the above mentioned "safety mode".
check there isn't a sensor unplugged somewhere, never worked with these engines, but sometimes if it missing a signal from a certain sensor it'll go into limp home mode, in this case, won't allow you to rev it, usually most other probs will surface everywhere, not allow a good idle etc.
*edit* sorry norbie, jus read you'd already posted this up!
insert witty post here, to allow people to see how funny and intelligent i am, and how much they would like to be like me.
Have you found the problem with the soarer yet?
Nope haven't found the problem. Diag mode didn't show up anything
How do i check if the timing is locked?
the car is a bog stock soarer, its only got an orginal 60000kms verfied (looks absolutely new underneath - its quite amazing) there is nothing done to this car.
I would suggest that if the car is in good condition and you cant find the problem take it to your local toyota/lexus dealer to be checked out.
They were sold here as a lexus and they should be able to identify the issue without too much trouble.

Thanks to James Cameron's Terminator films, we know that robots are stronger, faster, tougher and more Austrian than the rest of us.
Yeah Money is the Problem there. I've had problems like this before, there has goto be a simple explanation for it. I'll keep looking
I'm guessing with the timing lock, to test just put a timing light on it and see if it advances etc
If the timing lock is on, what is the cause and how have people fixed it
money is always a problem with import cars
if u cant afford them just buy an aussie shitter hehehe
have u don e basics like fuel pressure
comp
leads
plugs etc
Its something with the ECU cutting something out. I think i might do a bit of research on the USA forums
aftermarket rev limit!?!??! :/
this is weird as all hell.
dude, just take it into a dealer, for MAX $100 they should be able to take a look and tell you whats going on.
Eldar.O.
100 bucks hehehe that will be the day
the dealer will just plug a scanner in and see what happens
