    Default 4A-GE Distributor 16v/20v compatibility

    Gents,

Have access to a 20V blacktop head, but it comes with no distributor

What I want to know, and cant seem to find on the net anywhere, is if 16v distributors can be used on a 20v head?? Specifically the 4AGZE CAS. I know that the distributor sits in a different place on the 20v, but I'm hoping that maybe the cam and dizzy have the same number of teeth on their gears and whatnot as the 16v does and that the body/shaft is all the same length and diameter into the head etc I have never pulled apart a 20v dizzy before to compare and don't have one readily available, so I'm hoping someone can just tell me and save me the effort lol

    Nope.
20V dizzy keys into the back of the exhaust cam (which correctly phases it, no "out by 1 tooth" bullshit) while the 16V runs off a gear drive. Lengths and diameters are different too.

They'd be rotating in opposite directions too? Since both are driven off the exhaust cam, but the 20V is keyed whereas the 16V goes through a helical gear means that the direction of rotation will be opposite...

Buy Dneg's Silvertop for $500, take the dizzy off it, then sell the rest on eBay for $450

lol, effort. Do the silvertop dizzys work on blacktops anyway? They probably have the key cut out in a different position just to be assholes...

As tempting as that sounds, I dont have the space for that engine, especially if all I am using off it is the dirstributor

If a blacktop head falls into your possession then we can talk
